In 1886 Freud married Martha Bernays and produced three daughters and three sons. The youngest child, Anna, followed in her father¡¦s footsteps and finally taking over a leadership role in the psychoanalytic movement.

The publication of ¡§Studies in Hysteria¡¨(1895), a book in which he theorized that hysterical symptoms resulted from repressed memories of traumatic events.

During 1896 and 1900, Freud began to analyze his own dreams. His most outstanding work, ¡§The Interpretation of Dreams¡¨ (1900), was based on analysis of his dreams.

Freud was highly creative and productive. His productivity remained at this prolific level until late in his life.
