Friday June 7
Today was for free tour.
We went to the Pharaohic Village with Mr Ashraf's arrangement. It is a theme park firstly established by Dr. Rogab. Now, it is at his son's hand to manage.

In the village, we were explained the history of the land we were stepping on. A few kings and queens were introduced. Also, the life of the ancient Egyptians was demonstrated. We saw imitation of farming, hunting, papermaking (papyrus), pot making and so on.
We also visited a few museums in the village. They were grouped in periods to show the different time in Egypt including the ancient time, the Coptic period, the Napoleon period and the Muslim period.

Amr, a local student we met in the meeting with the Political Research Centre of the newspaper, came with us. We tried a pie called " Cleopatra " together, and it tasted very good with cheese and a bit cherry.

In the afternoon, we visited a Sudanese family, who are Stella's friends.

They came to Egypt for religious reason. We knew nothing about Sudan before, but this visit gave us some understanding on the world outside Hong Kong. This made me realize that I am too ignorant of the affairs except the big countries while these are important things, which I should know.

Sudanese were very friendly and kind. Their hospitality made us feel very embarrassing, as we did not know what to do to thank them enough. They got a different lifestyle compared to Egyptians. We could see that from the decorations of their home. They were black but they were very clean. They were well educated and wise. We really had a good time at their home.

When we got back to the hotel, they brought us to try the metro system in Egypt. It was the older one. It is less well maintained compared to that in Hong Kong, but it is still interesting to see different people hanging around.
