The cage should be large enough for your
rabbit[s] to hold a food bowl, a hay rack, a litter-box, and
should still have enough room for your
rabbit[s] to move around. Make sure the cage
is tall enough for your rabbit[s] to jump
and stand up in.
It is helpful for a cage to have a slide-out
tray on the bottom for easy cleaning.
The cage should have a side door,
so your rabbit can jump out on his own,
and a door on the top so you can lift
your rabbit out. Do not get the first cage you see at the Pet Store
just because it says it's 'Specialy designed
for Rabbits', most cages like this are supposed to be for
small rabbits, and are usually not big
enough for even a Netherland Dwarf.
If your rabbit[s] isn't going to spend
much time in his cage,
A good sized cage for one dwarf rabbit
is at least:
18 in. Tall
23 in. x 19 in. wide
Of course, if your rabbit will have to
be in his cage alot, you will have to get a larger cage to satisfy his
needs.
If you have a very large breed of rabbit,
like a New Zealand,
You might consider getting a small dog
crate to use a cage instead of a regular
bunny cage.
