36. James Henderson [Waldrep] WALDROP was born in 1816 in Laurens Co., S.C./Jasper Co., GA.?. He died on 11 Mar 1863 in Fairfield Co., TN./Jasper Co., GA.?. [Notes of Jan Dawson 1998: 1850 Census shows children: Jesse A. age 9, Sarah age 8, George age 5, Robert age 3, and Winfield age 6 months. 1860 census shows Sarah W. age 18, George S. age 15, Robert T. age 14, J.S. male age 9, S.L. male age 6, A.C. male age 5, N.C. female age 1 and G.F. male age 6 months.]

[Notes of HLW: J.S. noted as age 9 in the 1860 census could be the Jeff Waldrop b. 1841 some researcher gave as a son of this James Henderson Waldrop but with wrong birthdate; also Minfula b. 1849, and Cynthia b. 1843 which may be N.C. female age 1 in 1860 census with the wrong birthdate].

Rec'd Deed on Flint River near Jonesboro, GA.
1st elected Sheriff of Clayton Co., GA., from 15 Jan 1859 to 17 Jan 1860.

Enlisted in the C.S.A., Co. F, 2nd Regiment, GA. Calvery. Served under Capt W.H. Chapman, 6 May 1862, and served until he died of wounds. Widow and children moved away from Clayton Co., GA., destination unknown.

132 vii. S. L. WALDROP was born in 1854 in GA.. This unknown child is listed as male age 6 in the 1860 Federal Census.
133 viii. A.C. WALDROP was born in 1855 in GA.. This unknown child is listed as A.C. male age 5 in the 1860 Federal Census.
134 ix. N.C. [Cinthia ?] WALDROP was born in 1859 in GA.. Listed as N.C. female age 1 in 1860 Federal census. A former researcher listed child as Cinthia b. 1843. Could be this child with wrong birthdate.
135 x. G.F. WALDROP was born in 1860. This unknown child is listed as male age 6 mo. in the 1860 Federal Census.
