" Recently my brother-in-law, H.W. Bryson and his son Tom located the Robert
Workman family cemetery. it tallies so completely with the Bible in your possession
and clarifies part of my search...In the White Plains area near Mudlick Creek,
off from everything is the high iron fence which his will calls for [is the Robert
Workman Cemetery]. One cannot enter by the gate but must climb in. It is fearfully
overgown; stones broken; but readable. Robert's stone is broken, but parts can
be placed together and read. I am sure that I told you that Robert married Martha
Coate. Martha Waldrop, their daughter, Mary Workman m. W. Waldrop--interesting
isn't it? I wonder how your Waldrop Boble would clear that up? My sincere regards,
Irene Workman. Robert Workman d. 1 Sep 1857 aged 79. His birthdate is not known
as he came to America from Ireland when a boy and commenced overseeing in Newberry
District and after marrying Miss martha Waldrop, he removed to Laurens District.
He lost his wife 6 Jan 1927 and never married again. he was an industrious
man, good neighbor and very honest. [ all of the above was carved on the tombstone].
