William Judson Cochran served C.S.A. as private in Company B, 28 Regiment, LA. infantry. He enlisted 11 May 1862 in Monroe, LA. serving 3 years commanded by Capt. T.W. Abney, surrendered at New Orleanes, LA. by General E.K. Smith, C.S.A. to Maj. Gen. E.R.S. Canby, U.S.A. 26 May 1865 and became a prisoner of war. He was parolled 14 June 1865 at Shreveport, LA. He also seems to have served in Company B, 30th Regiment of LA. and was paied $50.00 Bounty for service 13 May 1862. by J.M. West. Elizabeth F. Cockran applied for widow's pension 10 Nov 1916, stating that W.J. Cochran served under Col. Gray in the 28th infantry and she was allowed $100.00 on 15 Aug 1917.
