88. James Simon Lucell WALDROP was born on 20 Mar 1844 in Sumter Co., GA.. He was buried in Apr 1921 in Pine Grove Cem., Polk Co., TX.. He died on 6 Apr 1921 in Tyler Co., TX.. Enlisted August 14, 1861, Ellaville, GA., as a private, Company B, 17th GA. Infantry, Benning's Brigade, Fields' Division. Wounded in both arms Second Manassas, August 20, 1862. Bones were broken, & there was some paralysis in the right arm. Detached for special duty at the hospital, Petersburg, Virginia, March 1863. Was paid expenses to collect straglers. [C.S.A.] Sick in Jackson Hospital, Richmond, November 21, 1864. Returned to duty 24 Nov 1864. Surrendered by R.E. Lee, 9 Apr 1865, Appomattox, VA. Parolled. James full name was James Simon Lecell Johnston Waldrep. He was named after four uncles. James was married shortly after the Civil War. He made a trip to Texas about 1867 where his older brothers had moved a few years earlier.

Sarah May TYSON (daughter of Enoch TYSON) was born in 1848 in GA.. Sarah May Tyson locked her daughter Lula May Waldrep behind a white picket fence, in the front yard...rode off on a huge black horse, with a man she did not know. She never saw her mother again. This story was told by informant: Lula May, grandmother of Noble Acker in 1932 when he was 8 years old. James Waldrep, Lula May Waldrep's father made a trip back to Schley Co., GA. from TX. ca. 1876 and brought Lula May back to Texas with him. 1870 Census Schley Co., GA., living with Jos. B. Rouse Family. James Simon Lucell WALDROP and Sarah May TYSON had the following children:

He was married to Benny Ellen TRIPLETTE (daughter of Noah * TRIPLETT and Miss WALKER) in Feb 1878 in Woodville, Tyler Co., TX.. Benny Ellen TRIPLETTE was born on 13 Apr 1857 in Angelina Co., TX.. She died on 19 Jan 1942 in Polk Co., TX.. James Simon Lucell WALDROP and Benny Ellen TRIPLETTE had the following children:
