28. Elihu Nelson WALDROP I⁽¹⁾ was born in 1799 in Laurens Co., S.C.. He died in 1870 in Polk Co., TX.. Church affiliation: Baptist. 1830 Census Monroe Co., GA., 1840 Census Chester Co., GA., 1850 Census Sumpter Co., GA., 1860 Census Schley Co., GA., 1870 Schley Co., formed from Macon, Marion and Sumpter counties in 1857. In 1870 census, Polk Co., TX. Deeded land to George Wells 10 Mar 1839, Deed BK. AA-105, According to Harold White, informant, 3135 18th St. N., Arlington, VA. 22201: Elihu Nelson Waldrop was witness for Mary Waldrop's heirs, widow of James Waldrop, died Fayette Co., GA., when she applied for pension. Harold says that Elihu's letter is dated 23 Dec1857, and Mary had died three or four years earlier, and neither James nor Mary had received any of their approved pension prior to their respective deaths. He refers to "sharks in the water" who might have skimmed off the money before it got to them. Abt. 1820 Elihu Nelson Waldrop married Tamsey Duke.

He was married to Tamsey M. DUKE (daughter of Jesse DUKE and Miss CRENSHAW) in 1820 in Jasper Co., GA.. Tamsey M. DUKE⁽¹⁾ was born on 19 Feb 1802 in Lancaster Co., S.C.. She died in 1862 in Schley Co., GA.. Elihu Nelson WALDROP I and Tamsey M. DUKE had the following children:
