• Me

I was born in Germany in 1958, in a small suburb in the Ruhr valley. I have gone to school in Germany and in the USA, and have come to the conclusion that each school system has something to recommend it. In 1980 I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics and Applied Mathematics.

I'm a computer programmer. These days that's not as lucrative as it used to be.

I got married while still in college, and have proprietary interest in three kids. And I've got a granddaughter.

I enjoy a number of activities. I love music, play several musical instruments (although none of them particularly well), love to read, write stories, play games, and even enjoy programming for fun.

I like the Classics more than any other kind of music, but I have a wide ranging taste. I love to relax to the sounds of Jazz, don't mind the rythms of Rock-n-Roll, and even have been known to enjoy the occasional Rap piece.

I enjoy reading just about anything. I love the classics, including books by Jane Austen, Mark Twain, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I also read science fiction, fantasy, and mysteries. I don't care much for romances or thrillers, but I used to devour the westerns my grandfather read with a voracious appetite. Nonfiction subjects which interest me are practically unlimited. I do draw the line at writings that appear so obviously slanted that the information is unlikely to be useful. This leaves out most religious books and writings originating with political fringe groups. But mostly I try to give every book a fair chance.

I enjoy many boardgames and cardgames. While in college I met some people who played "Dungeons and Dragons". These days I play it almost every week. I enjoy various card games, and have participated in a number of chess tournaments.
