Chapter 6

About an hour later Lynn was trying to get her son up.

Lynn: Honey its time to get up and your breakfast awaits you
Justin: is Megan up?
Lynn: she’s been up, gone and then came back
Justin: where did she go?
Lynn: to meet some friends, now get up or you will be late
Justin: I’m up, thanks
Lynn: no problem now you only have a half-hour to get ready, when Megan is sitting downstairs all ready
Justin: sorry

Justin got up and got changed and then he went downstairs and within a hour they were out the door back to Megan’s house to pick- up her fellow road rulers, which were awake and ready. They all talked small talk and then Megan got into the Winnie and drove to a familiar place. It was the swimming club.

Miss Anne: welcome Road Rulers, I’m your mission mayor and we have a challenge for you. Some of you it may be hard for you but we want you to see what it takes to prepare for the Olympics
Ryan: why
Miss Anne: don’t ask questions, we have surprises along the way but there are athletes in their really practicing for the team and don’t bother them.

Megan knew Miss Anne because that was her coach but she talked to her and her friends earlier about not
knowing her because of everything. Miss Anne explained things about the mission. They were going to do a half
a practice and then they were going to compete in a race and whoever wins get a trophy. Ryan was in lane 1, Dannie was in 2, Jason was in 3, Holly was in 4, Justin was in 5, and Megan was in lane 6 closest to her friends. They all got pre-made suits. The girls had on one piece blue bathing suits, which had the clubs logo, and in the upper half it had their name. The boys had blue speedos on with the logo and their name. It was skimpy and the girls just laughed. They all had caps and goggles
(just to let any non- swimmers know a cap is something swimmers wear to keep back their hair and get faster times.) The others besides Megan was doing their laps while Megan and four others had to do something cool. They dived in the pool and had to stay synchronized with the others. They had to do things at the same time. The 5 just stopped and stared at how cool it was.

Ryan: isn’t that Megan’s lane
Justin: I think so but I think she went to the bathroom.
Holly: ok we have to get back to practice.

Luckily they went back swimming and didn’t notice the swimming practicing in Megan’s lane. Megan didn’t want to tell them for her reasons and they didn’t want to know.

Miss Anne: Road Rulers I want to watch what you have to do, it’s a 2-part challenge. First part is the relay, you have to race the Olympic team, luckily our best swimmers couldn’t make it today so you can’t be that humiliated that bad. She is a very good swimmer and she only missed the Olympics by .001 hundredths of a second when she was 14. She had trained pretty hard and just to let you know she could beat all of you when your only doing one lap she could do 3 so and if she was here I would put her on your team but she’s not. You will all swim free style, one lap except the last swimmer; they will swim 2 laps. You put the fastest swimmer last. So you discuss it and get back to us.

Miss Anne talked to the other swimmers and decided to go a little slower. Megan was picked to go last and she was glad that she could do that because the guys would be really tired after swimming a 50
(which means in plainer terms that a 50 is 50 meters. Regular community pools are only 25 meters but Olympic size is 50 meters, get it. Well if you don’t that’s ok but as you can tell that I’m a swimmer, not to brag or anything. If you’re wondering Nsync will come into play in about 5 pages or more so keep on reading) then they picked who will go first.

Kelly: hey Megan
Megan: excuse me
Kelly: good luck swimming against me, not to get on your nerves it takes at least a year with 2 practices a day to get as good as I am
Megan: well excuse you, I’m heard to be pretty good
Ryan: you know her
Megan: yeah, she’s one of my friend’s back at school
Ryan: prepare for us to eat your dust.
Marshall: I like to see that happening

Marshall is training for the Olympics too and he wanted to get extra practice in before finals.

Miss Anne: swimmers please take your mark

Then the gun was shot and then Ryan was off, they were losing but only about a fourth. Then it was Dannie and
then Holly and then Jason and then Justin. Justin was pretty fast and then Megan was about to strut her stuff. She didn’t want to go that fast because of everything but she didn’t go slow. She came to one side of the pool did her flip turn
(a flip turn is when you flip at the end of the wall and push off for better time) she was close behind and didn’t want to win because she knew she could go a lot faster and didn’t feel like explaining it so in the end they lost by 10 seconds. Not bad.

Miss Anne: good job you did really well. Now for the second part of your mission. There is one more race.
It might tire you out but if you touch the bottom of the pool or pull on the lane lines then your disqualified. You have to swim a 100, which are 2 laps with out any DQ’s. You were all assigned a lane so you have to get in your lane. You will swim free style and you will all be timed and given you time. If you win you will get a trophy and a ribbon and for second you will get a ribbon and so on. SO will swimmers please take your marks... BANG

And they were off the other swimmers were just watching. Megan was ahead as usual. Then they all learned the flip turn and did it but Megan was still ahead. She tried to go slower and it worked but not too much because she was still way ahead from her friends. She decided to really slow up and then she ended up winning. Then in 2nd was Justin. 3rd was Holly, 4th was Ryan, 4th was Dannie, 5th was Jason. They all had a great time and then they got their awards and then they were out of there.

Jason: congratulations Megan, you beat me by like 30 seconds.
Megan: well I tried.
Justin: yeah right you were like all most a length of a pool
Megan: so

That night everyone decided to get to bed early because they were tired from their mission. It was about 10 when everyone woke up.

Ryan: do you know where Megan is?
Dannie: no, do you Justin
Justin: no, but there’s something she’s not telling us because yesterday when my mom woke me up I asked her
if Megan was up and she said that she’s been up, back and then came back again.
Jason: well you never know.

Megan was at a long and hard practice but it didn’t bother her very much. Then she put her clothes back in
her car and decided to do her Cheerleading dance. She was a college cheerleader and she had to practice
because she stopped by her friend’s house to learn the cheer dance. She was doing it outside the Winnie,
which was at a campground. She was doing really good. She decided to start over. The guys were all watching.
First she came running and did a roundoff backhand spring and then to her dance. She ended it and it was very good with a couple of mistakes.

Justin: tell me this, after yesterday how could she do that, she did more laps than we all did but how?
Dannie: maybe she’s in good shape, look at that and her swimming it was very good and she probably goes to the gym to her those muscles in her arms and legs.
Jason: well I guess your right but where did she go.
Holly: she went to go and learn that dance
All: how do you know?
Holly: she told me for one and she left about 4 hours ago when I was up going to the bathroom.

Megan told Holly about her training and she was very happy for her. She knew why Megan didn’t want to tell any one. They had a great next couple of weeks with all their missions.
