Montanejos | ||||||||||||||||||
This town is nestled in the western end of the scenic Sierra Espadan mountains. Whilst the town is nothing special the area of the thermal springs which run into the river at 'Fuente los banos' just outside the town is spectacular. The crystal clear (but warm) waters are perfect for swimming and picnicking. You are surrounded by impressive cliff faces of the river gorge which are a favourite for climbers. We recommend a trip to the reservoir and dam just along the river gorge (Embalse de Arenos) and the restaurant at the top of the rocks in Montenejos called 'Las Piedrazas' (huge pans of fried chicken or rabbit are the specialities) |
