Q. What is an RPG?
A. The word RPG stands for Role-Playing Game. An RPG can be based on anything, a movie, a book... even a soap opera *eeyuck*. In this case, this RPG is based on the Harry Potter books. You enroll as a fictional character and post the actions of your created character. You have to make up your own character and it cannot be anyone from the books.

Q. How do I enroll in this RPG?
A. You click on the Sorting Hat link to the left of the page, fill out the form and submit it. You should get a reply within a day or two as to whether you're accepted or not . If you don't, then that probably means that I'm on vacation, so you could either wait a while or simply go here.

Q. What do I do once I get my acceptance letter?
A. Once you've got your acceptance letter, you first go to your house using the Houses link. Once you've basically posted there, you're free to do what you want. You could start out with something small, like a post in the Great Hall, where you can go using the Hogwarts Message Board link. After two or three days on the board, start expanding your posts to different forums on the messageboard and most importantly, sign up for different classes to earn points.

Q. What is the time-frame of this RPG?
A. The time-frame is very important because your actions should be according to that period. In this RPG, the year is 2006, so role-play as you would now. Let's imagine that we don't get too futuristic by then.

Q. What is the story-line of this RPG?
A. Again, a very important question. Due to a lot of changes in this RPG, we needed a story to fit these changes. This particular story is based on what actually happened to us, with the old owner of the board returning. Because of that, we had to create a totally new site and board. In the year 2005, when Hogwarts was being headed by Professor Colloqoy, who was being helped by a team of most capable and dedicated professors, crisis struck. The old Headmaster, a bitter, disillusioned old man returned to Hogwarts and attempted to perform a memory charm on all the students and professors... so that he could once again head Hogwarts. The Headmistress and the professors put up a brave fight and they finally managed to stop the cruel Aaron Silverlance before he performed his far-spanning memory charm. However, they were unable to save the castle. Silverlance escaped and he was not heard of again. The students were sent home and the professors and the Headmistress began work on rebuilding the castle. Finally, after three months of hard labour, the castle was restored and it was almost similar to its ancestor. But not quite... the horror of that night stayed with the professors and students alike, but they realized that they loved the spirit of the school, which had still endured. The new school was firmer because it was built on a foundation of love, trust and mainly unity which no one could break. The school finally belonged to us and us only... it was Hogwarts Our Way.

Q. Where are Harry Potter and the other book characters?
A. Aaron Silverlance was last heard of in Russia. Harry Potter and most of his friends, now aurors or employees of the Ministry of Magic, set out in search of him. Professor Colloqoy decided to join this team and she resigned from her position as Headmistress leaving the school in the capable hands of the Charms professor, Caira Mylana. Now Professor Mylana is needed in Russia since she was also part of that team of aurors. In her absence, the school shall be managed by the House Heads and the other professors.

Q. Is there a system of promotions?
A. Actually, we're still taking suggestions to come up with a more efficient system of promotions. So for now there is no system of promotions but we hope to change that soon.
