By the time they stopped, they did not realize that sunrise was around the corner. Anya walked towards the bough of the ship and sat down, leaning her back against the bottom of the mast. She gestured Dimitri to come. Dimitri comfortably seated himself against a large wooden crate, facing her. They were clearly exhausted from all the dancing, but contented.
Anya let out a little yawn.
"Tired?" Dimitri asked.
"Just a little." She answered back.
"You haven't slept at all last night."
"Neither have you..."
They both stopped, as if waiting for the other to make the first move. The skyline was slowing glowing with an orange hue.
"Sun's coming up." Dimitri finally said.
"uh-huh... "
"Perhaps you and I could ..."
"I'd love to..."
Somehow they both knew that the other had a lot more to say. Perhaps now's not the time yet, they thought . They looked at each other and blushed. Fate has a funny way of making things happen, and what will be, will be. It was like they knew what each other was thinking as they could not help smiling.
The air was gradually getting warmer as the heat from the sun basked down on their faces. Anya stared out into the horizon and saw the breathtaking scenery. They will soon be in Paris, she thought. The dawning of a new day, and new hopes of finding her family.
"Dimitri..."she began, still admiring the scenery. " I feel funny all of a sudden." She clutched her pendant, still hung around her neck. " I know that my family is in Paris, in fact I can feel it. But somehow....I'm not sure.. but I keep getting the feeling that there is something else that I'm supposed to do, someone else I'm supposed to be looking for....and that someone else is looking for me....Am I making any sense?" She paused for breath. " I guess we'll just have to take things one step at a time huh? Kinda like leaving it to fate. Sometimes the things you are searching for could be right under your nose all along; you just have to know where to look for it...so I am sure that I will find what I am looking for, and perhaps even......."
She turned to look at Dimitri.
"Dimitri?"
Dimitri was so comfortable leaning against the crate that he was already fast asleep. "Just like him to tune out when I'm talking to him," she joked to herself and shook her head. "Still...poor thing's lost sleep because of you... He looked so innocent and tranquil, must be dreaming or something. Better not wake him up" She smiled to herself. Just then, Anya was struck by a sudden desire. She looked around and, sensing that no one was nearby, quickly gave Dimitri a small peck on his cheek. Dimitri stirred a bit and went back to sleep, wearing a grin on his face. Anya couldn't help but smile again.
" Perhaps even..."
The End! :)
"sweet dreams till sunbeams find you,
sweet dreams now leave your worries behind you.
but in your dreams whatever they be,
dream a little dream of me…"
