Kyle carries the weight of the world on his shoulders because of his father. He always makes sure that what he's doing is the right thing. he worries about the safety of his team; the moral issues of their assignments; even the chaotic state of the world. This is a man with an incredible sense of responsibility, which makes him the perfect leader.
Jenny was a kick-ass marine sergeant during the Gulf War. She came out of combat with a lifetime's worth of experience and a chess full of medals. She's always been gung ho about wargames. She was raised in a military family. Her father was a General, and her five brothers all enlisted in different branches of the service. Though her mother always held out hoping Jenny might choose a more feminine career, she knew when Jenny was ten and led a tactical assault on a rival neightborhood kids' clubhouse, her daughter was destined for the armed services. Focused, driven, efficient, you don't get a better soldier than Jenny. Her teammates affectionately refer to her as "Xena, Warrior Princess."
But there's a side to Jenny she tries to keep hidden from the world. The softer, shier side. She's very cautious when it comes to her personal life. Extremely self-conscious about her incredible beauty, Jenny prefers to keep to herself instead of flaunting her obvious God-given looks. When men hit on her (which is often), she'll let her macho marine persona kick in to scare them away. But Kyle sees right through the tough-girl act, and has lots of fun playing with her.
Jenny's unrivaled skill as a soldier was the key reason she was recruited for TKR. But something else links her to the Foundation. What that is will be revealed later in the first season.
A Golden Gloves champion who became a Chicago cop, Duke was kicked off the force. All we know is he broke too many rules in taking on a mobster. Things looked bleak, and Duke began to question the decisions he'd made. However, his one-man war on the mob brought him to the attention of TKR, and he was immediately recruited.
For a kid from the Chicago slums, working with TKR is almost too good to be true. The level of comfort, style and technology is beyond anything he ever imagined. Duke knows he's being given a second chance, and he's secretly vowed to himself that this time, he's going to do things right.
Duke is an unstoppable force, but what surprises people is how incredibly sensitive he can be. Working as a cop on the beat put him in touch with the common man, and, more than anyone on the Team, Duke understands the positive and negative effects their actions will have on the people they come into contact with. He has a no nonsense style; he likes to cut through the bull. And he's astoundingly articulate for someone from his background. He's always cool, never flustered. His actions are very slow and considered. He never rushes for anybody. Which makes people very nervous.
No one's sure if Erica West is her real name. All that's truly known about her is that she was a successful con artist who made one mistake, and got caught. She was tried and convicted in record time. After three years in prison, Erica was suddenly sprung. The condition was that she go to work for the company who successfully secured her release -- The Foundation for Law and Government. Those are the facts about Erica West. The rest is a complete mystery. And her fellow TKR members are constantly trying to trip her up, get her to reveal personal information about herself. But Erica's a pro. She never falls for it. Eventually, however, it may come to light that her husband, her co-conspirator, her partner-in-crime, may not have died after all. He may have sold her out in exchange for his own freedom. And perhaps then will there be some light shed on Erica's mysterious past.
Erica's smolderingly sexy, far from the girl next door. There's a dark side to her that keeps people on their toes. And she's extremely unpredictable. The team never knows if she'll come through for them in the end. But she always does; it's just never in the way you would expect.
Trek was born to brilliant parents in a suberb of Boston who were huge fans of STAR TREK, hence his nickname. He was actually conceived at a science fiction convention in 1972. In the eighties, Trek was essentially DOOGIE HOWSER. A twelve-year-old graduate of MIT who went to work for a think-tank in Washington. But Trek immediately outgrew working for other people, and turned his brain to his own uses. He developed revolutionary technologies which he sold on the open market, and in a matter of years was a multi-millionaire. It came so easily to him, that he quickly lost his fortune. So it became a game to him: invent something, make a fortune, lose it, invent something else, make another fortune, etc. By the time he hit twenty-one, he had done this several times. Then one day he found out about TKR. He wasn't recruited: Trek came to them and offered his services. The powers that be knew it was an offer they couldn't refuse.
Trek's not the most ambitious TKR member. The others find him lazy, unmotivated, unfocused, and they all know he doesn't need to be there. He could easily chuck this life, go invent something, and make another fortune. But he stays, and is a precious commodity who can come up with a scientific solution to almost any problem. Trek's an artist, a creator who works at his own pace, which a lot of times adds pressure to TKR's carefully timed missions. Trek is also a consumer of information on everything from literature and history to pop culture. And though Trek complains that he'd rather be at home watching Jenny McCarthy on MTV, you sense he gets a charge from these dangerous, high voltage assignments. They're a wonderful outlet for this incredible mind that constantly needs to be challenged. But of course he'll never admit it.
