He claims not to be the romantic type, but off the TV screen and on the TV screen in his TV movie Male Model, Jon-Erik is really a sentimental sweetheart!
You may know him as "Phineas Bogg" from the now-cancelled TV show Voyagers!, but 25-year-old, blue-eyed Jon-Erik Hexum is coming back into your life (and heart!) this month.
He's starring in an upcoming ABC Movie of the Week called Male Model, and there's no actor better suited for the lead role than gorgeous Jon-Erik!
In Male Model, this brown-haired dream plays "Tyler Burnett," a happy-go-lucky cowboy who finds himself at the top of New York's glamorous modeling world and in love with "Kay," one of the world's most powerful modeling agents (played by Dynasty's Joan Collins).
Though "Tyler" has a girlfriend back home in Nevada, he soon falls in love with the domineering "Kay," and watches his whole life change before his eyes.
"'Tyler' and I are alike in a lot of ways," smiles Jon-Erik when talking about his TV role. "'Tyler' is a real good boy. He's naïve about the parties and high-class restaurants, and he's reluctant about all of his success."
In real life, Jon-Erik also prefers the privacy of going to small restaurants, and he's still learning how to handle his success.
"I don't go to super nice restaurants because I always feel like they're laughing at me in the kitchen!" chuckles this modest actor.
"They give you these tiny portions and charge you $26! It just seems ridiculous to me," confides Jon-Erik. "I'd rather just eat at middle-of-the-road restaurants -- not fancy places."
Though Jon-Erik and "Tyler" are alike in their modest lifestyles, they differ greatly in the romance department.
Filming love scenes doesn't bother him.
"'Tyler' is a romantic," remarks Jon-Erik as he runs his hands through his sun-streaked locks. "The first time he realizes that he is really in love with 'Kay,' he feels like 'Wow! This is it. This is real important.'"
Jon-Erik's classic good looks and open willingness to talk about love and relationships seem contradictory to his statements about romance. "I don't think I'm very romantic," reveals Jon-Erik. "I treat girls a whole lot like I treat guys. I'm very down-to-earth."
And since Jon-Erik claims he's not real romantic, does filming love scenes which will be seen by millions of people bother him?
"No, I don't mine, " he grins. "It's fun to do those scenes because they're make-believe. I'm comfortable with it, and I like it."
But when talking to this handsome guy, you find that he is old-fashioned and sensitive when it comes to his true feelings about love and affection.
"I like the image of the romantic, and that's one reason why I love the movies and love to at," smiles Jon-Erik. "But in real life I'm just not like that."
But Jon-Erik does have his soft-hearted moments. "When I really like a girl a lot, then I will usually do romantic things," he admits.
"I used to write poems to girls," he blushes. "And I even send flowers and things." Now doesn't he sound like a romantic to you?
Jon-Erik enjoys taking girls on dates to nice places and getting to know them, but he is also quite liberal and supportive of equal rights.
"She can call me up!"
"If a girl would like to talk to me, she can call me up!" he says self-assuredly.
If you're the type who likes to make the first move, write to Jon-Erik here at BOP!, P.O. Box 2592, Hollywood, CA 90078! He's definitely looking forward to hearing from you and he wants to know how you liked him in Male Model!
