HANDSOME HEXUM --THE FACE THAT LAUNCHED A FABULOUS NEW FILM!

Teen Beat Magazine

If you enjoyed watching super-hunk Jon-Erik Hexum as Phineas Bogg in Voyagers!, you'll love him in the soon-to-be-released ABC Movie of the Week, Male Model. Recently Jon-Erik took time out from taping the new movie to talk to TEEN BEAT.

Although he was upset about the cancellation of Voyagers! for this season, Jon-Erik does admit that he saw it coming. I was disappointed but I kind of think it was the best thing that could happen. I'm excited about doing other things." Jon-Erik was immediately signed to work as the star of Male Model, starring opposite Dynasty's feisty heiress, Joan "Alexis" Collins.

Male Model is about a ranch hand from Nevada who is discovered by a modeling agent. Joan Collins plays the modeling agent who discovers ranch hand Tyler and brings him to New York. But because Tyler has been raised on the farm all of his life, he is not accustomed to being a superstar, and the fast-paced life does not suit him well. As Jon-Erik explains, "Tyler does like the success and the money but he really wants to go back to his farm and ranch and live his life quietly!"

But Male Model is not only about money and success, it's also a love story. Kay Dillon (Joan Collins) is Tyler's mentor, and while helping him to change from "Oakie" to professional model, she falls in love with him! Eventually, Tyler must decide whether to stay an "Oakie" all his life or become part of the fast-paced city life. What does he do? We won't tell! You'll just have to watch Male Model when it premieres in November!

His Voyagers! series has sunk, but Jon-Erik is soaring again in Male Model, a hot new ABC Movie of the Week!

Jon-Erik had a ball while filming the movie. When he was cast for the role of Tyler, he and several other cast members "drove around Beverly Hills and bought $9000 worth of clothes for the show," says Jon-Erik. "That was a lot of fun -- trying on all the fancy clothes!" Because Tyler becomes a professional model, he always has to look his best, so Jon-Erik had to choose only the very finest of clothing for his role.

In the role of Phineas Bogg, Jon-Erik had found a role that suited him in that it had all the nuances of fantasy, adventure and excitement that Jon-Erik enjoys playing. His new role as Tyler enables him to go a step further. As Tyler, he gets to play an interesting character whose changing lifestyle and emotions give Jon-Erik a real work-out as an actor. TEEN BEAT thinks Jon-Erik will meet the challenge and continue to prove that his acting talent more than equals his striking good looks.
