Words of Remembrance From Jon-Erik's Fans

I have edited some of these e-mails for space and clarity. Thank you to those who have been kind enough to write me.

I've never found anywhere else on the web that has any pics or info about him.
And that's a shame, because he was quite literally the most beautiful person I have ever seen ...
Thank you again, for your effort ... -- J.B.

While surfing the net I came across your page of lesser known actors/actresses. I am writing you today just to tell you that I met J-E Hexum in September 1984 while I was living in Europe. He was at the Oktoberfest in Munich , Germany shooting a part for his series Cover-Up. After shooting the part for his series, he went to the Oktoberfest where while there with a friend of mine I started talking to him. He was very interesting to talk to, and was happy to meet someone from North America[ I am from Canada.] I talked to him for about 1 hour. If you would like to hear more, please drop me a line. My wife was also fascinated that I got to talk with him. -- T.D.

I'm very happy to know that someone finally put up a Jon-Erik Hexum remembrance page on the web. Jon-Erik was a big inspiration for me to motivate myself in the acting/entertainment field--reading about his life and his opinions in various articles, and his determination to follow through with his dreams, even though it meant having to overcome financial hardships and growing up in a single-parent family, was an incredible example. I was a member of the Friends of Jon-Erik Hexum, which was formed by his mother, Gretha, before her death in 1988. -- D.W.

I think I was thirteen when I first saw him emerge from the water in the very first episode of Cover-Up. I rather liken it to the effect that it has on men when they watch Ursula Andress come out of the water in that Bond film. I realised then that it would be very hard to find someone as beautiful again. I actually have a picture of him pinned up on the wall beside my desk. I thought that he would be forgotten. It is nice to realise that he is not. -- A.B.

I would just like to say how overwhelmed I am to finally find something on the life of Jon-Erik Hexum. I have searched on information on him for almost five years now. This is the only site I have found information about him. Thank you so very much for this opportunity. Jon-Erik Hexum has been a role model for me all of my life. He was the ultimate in male personality, attractiveness, and all around perfection. It was really terrible what happened to such a great man. I use to watch Cover-Up every time it would come on. I f you can tell me anything as to how to get video of episodes of Cover-Up or even a copy of the movie The Making of a Male Model I would greatly appreciate it. They never play any of his work on the television anymore. Ever since they took off the re-runs of the voyagers I have not seen anything with him. I would greatly appreciate your help. -- Sundown

I just wanted to thank you for creating a Jon-Erik web page. You brought back a lot of memories for me when I visited. I remember the day he passed away and how much I cried. As I think back to the show "Cover Up", I can't remember the theme song. Can you help me? Was it "Hero" or something like that? ("Holding Out For A Hero" by Bonnie Tyler)

Thank you again for your wonderful tribute to a man who left us to early.

Kia ora,
Thank you for putting up such a lovely page for a person we all remember so fondly. Your page is a touching tribute to a life so tragically cut short.
You might want to check out my site at:

What a pleasure to find your homepage. I've been a fan for a long time. I even belonged to the memorial club that Alan Carell in Portland, Oregon, ran for a long time.

For 8 years, I lived a door away from Meeno Peluce, all during the time of Voyagers! and beyond. I had the good fortune to see Jon Erik twice. Once, he was actually taking the trash for Meeno's family out to the street. I looked at him because he looked vaguely familiar. He said, "Hi, how are you?" and I said, "I'm fine, thanks; how are you?" and I kept walking. Then I stopped in my tracks and realized who I had just talked to! He had no shirt on; I'm sure you would have enjoyed seeing him that day.

Meeno was a wonderful neighbor, a kind, thoughtful kid. He alway stopped to say hi. In fact, I had a Meeno Peluce fan club gathering in my house once, and Meeno came in to say hi to the club president and everyone, I often wonder what happened to him.

I have all the Voyagers! episodes of course, as any Jon/Meeno fan would, and in fact have all the scripts from the series. I have some dupes of some of the mags JEH was on the cover of.

I videotaped JEH in fact at an Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films symposium.....and took some shots of him and Meeno together that day......wonderful memories.

I'm glad you remember JEH. Congratulations!

I'm T. S. and I grew up in Jon's hometown of Tenafly NJ. When I knew him he was known as Jack. We were close friends probably sometime around 1979. He was a very popular and outgoing figure at Tenafly High School and if memory serves me well he was a very multifaceted guy. He had a background in gymnastics and diving and was the drum major of the marching band which was greatly assisted by his dynamic and humorous presence. He would lead the band with gymnastic tumbling and wild displays of physical talent.
I knew him because I was a competitive springboard diver from the age of about 5 years until I went to college. For 2 years he was my diving coach in Tenafly and he taught me a hell of a lot about mid-air control and multi-twisting dives. But the guy was a really health freak. At the time I was a 14 year old freshman and he was a Senior. When I would train for competitions he would routinely triple whatever regimen I would go through to get in shape. I would do 100 push-ups. He would do three hundred. I would ride a bicycle 50 miles he would jog alongside me. This guy was a physical specimen to say the least and I think it was all because he was just a really motivated person.
At the end of one particular summer the diving league I was in held a coaches meet wherein we the divers judged our coaches in competition. Jack won the meet besting 10 other coaches by throwing a four-and-a-half off of a 3 meter diving board. This is a feat that very few can accomplish and because of it we the young judges gave him all "10's". He wiped away the field and won the grand prize of a mounted trophy featuring the bronzed image of the rear end of a horse and $200.
Nonetheless Jack was a great role model and terrific person. I was greatly saddened to hear about his tragic accident. The town of Tenafly was utterly stunned. I will always remember him in a very positive way.
Keep up the good work.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for the Jon Erik Hexum Remembrance Page. When I was in jr high and high school he was "my hero" and when I first discovered the web I looked for anything on him and didn't find much and I began to wonder if I was the only one who remembered him but now there's your remembrance page. THANK YOU!

I'm glad I found your Jon-Erik Hexum web site. Been looking for one a long time.
I too am a big fan of JEH. I was part of a group of STARTREK fans in STARFLEET INTERNATIONAL. When we formed our chapter We named the ship after Jon-Erik.
We were the USS HEXUM NCC-2199. All of us were fans. loved to watch repeats of VOYAGERS when we could get it on tape. We were sad to see him go in such a tragic way.

I have been in love with Jon-Erik Hexum for as long as I can remember. I was 14 when he died, and I was - and remain to this day - devastated. For the past 13 years, I have searched for information on him, with no luck - until tonight. I can't thank you enough for the Jon-Erik Remberance page. I could go on and on forever about Jon-Erik, but what I really wanted to say was thank you ... from the bottom of my broken heart.
Lisa

Amazing.
I typed in the name just for kicks, and couldn't believe someone has taken the time to keep his memory alive (I recently found two whole JEH photoalbums of mine from 1984 -- they've been in storage all this time).
Thanks,
Tracy :)
