Panic : William H. Macy, Neve Campbell and Donald Sutherland are in final talks to star in Panic.The film tells the story of Alex (Macy), a man who wants to get out of the family business "a mom-and-pop murder-for-hire practice" but whose father (Sutherland) won't let him. While seeking the help of a therapist, Alex falls in love with a confused, sexually charged 23-year-old girl (Campbell) whom he meets in the waiting room. Things come to a head when Alex discovers that his father has been secretly training his 8-year-old son to continue the family tradition.

An untitled animated musical : Adam Sandler has pacted with Sony Pictures for an untitled animated musical featuring a toon character based on him. Sandler, who will produce the comedy with his partner, Jack Giarraputo, will voice the character himself.

Thanksgiving : Rod Steiger will star in and direct Thanksgiving. Filming is slated to get under way this summer in Los Angeles and Palm Springs. The story focuses on three older men, friends for years, who come together to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Green Mile : L.A Times released a pic from the Tom Hanks starrer Stephen Kings' Story.

Cast Away : Helen Hunt is set to play Tom Hanks' girlfriend in Cast Away for director Robert Zemeckis. The film centers on an ambitious troubleshooter stranded on a desert island and his efforts to stay alive. Hunt will play Kelly, a woman fed up with her workaholic boyfriend's commitment phobia, who doesn't realize when he is paged to make an emergency trip to Malaysia that they will be apart for four years.

Loud and Clear : Woody Allen has been set to star as a veteran basketball analyst in the comedy Loud and Clear. Dreamworks is now courting Chris Rock to join him. Loud and Clear is a story of an analyst whose life comes unglued after he’s paired with an upstart announcer with a propensity for wildly funny commentary, along with occasional profanity. The acrimony between the pair grows into a mentor-protege relationship, particularly when the youngster’s penchant for controversy has him in danger of having his mike silenced permanently.

Ghosting : Director Steve Miner (Halloween: H20) will helm supernatural horror pic Ghosting. The film is a classic telling of a ghost story set in a small, isolated East Coast college campus in the present day.

Stretch Armstrong : Peter Care, the British director of music videos (R.E.M.,Bruce Springsteen), is in negotiations to direct the Danny DeVito in Stretch Armstrong. DeVito is set to star as a bumbling, warmhearted scientist and father of two boys, whose life is altered when a potion intended to kill him instead gives him incredible stretching powers.

Love's Labour's Lost : Alessandro Nivola (Face-Off) is in final negotiations to star as the king in Kenneth Branagh's Love's Labour's Lost. Nivola joins a cast that includes Alicia Silverstone, Nathan Lane, Natasha McElhone and Branagh.

The Adventures of Tom Thumb and Thumbelina : Miramax is going animated, producing the musical fairy tale The Adventures of Tom Thumb and Thumbelina . Jennifer Love Hewitt and Elijah Wood will voice the title characters in the story.

Battlefield Earth : Roger Christian has committed to direct John Travolta in the sci-fi action film Battlefield Earth. It’s the Travolta in two new films.story of a rebel hero who saves the earth from an oppressive race of 10-ft. tall aliens.

Standing Room Only : John Travolta and Gus Van Sant are in talks to collaborate on Standing Room Only, a biopic of crooner Jimmy Roselli .The movie will also likely feature Travolta's wife, Kelly Preston, in a small role. It would be the first of three pictures Travolta plans to make during the next year. Sources said Warner Bros.' Battlefield Earth and Columbia Pictures' The Shipping News will follow in rapid succession.

28 Days : Sandra Bullock is in talks to star in 28 Days. The picture would team Bullock with director Betty Thomas (Dr. Dolittle). 28 Days is described as a comic love story about a newspaper columnist in a drug and alcohol rehab center.

Do Not Disturb : William Hurt and actress Jennifer Tilly (Bound, Liar Liar) have been cast in the starring roles in director Dick Maas’ action thriller Do Not Disturb. Hurt plays the father in the pic about an American family in Amsterdam whose mute daughter, played by English actress Francesca Brown, witnesses a murder. Tilly is cast as the mother in the film.

Wonder Boys : Frances McDormand (Fargo) will star opposite Michael Douglas in Wonder Boys, which Curtis Hanson (L.A. Confidential) will direct. Douglas plays an author who's way behind on a deadline, with McDormand in the role of his lover.

The Sixth Day : Joe Dante will direct action-thriller The Sixth Day.The film is the story of a man who comes home and discovers that a clone has replaced him.

Flora Plum : Jodie Foster will be the ringmaster on the circus-set drama Flora Plum. Foster will direct. Flora, a screenplay by Steven Rogers, is a 1930s love story set in a circus. Claire Danes is in talks to star in the film, deal is done.

Detox : Robert Patrick, Tom Berenger and Polly Walker join Sylvester Stallone in Detox as a fellow cop in the Jim Gillespie-directed Universal drama Detox.

Reindeer Games : John Frankenheimer (Ronin) has signed to direct Reindeer Games, a thriller about an ex-con tricked into robbing a casino.

End of Days : International Film Guarantors has inked a completion bond for Beacon Pictures’ $100 million Arnold Schwarzenegger pic End of Days. The picture, which began lensing Nov. 21 under the helm of Peter Hyams, is skedded for a 95-day shoot. In addition to its high-priced talent, Days involves a large number of visual and mechanical effects and complex stunt work.

James Bond 19 : Robert Carlyle joined the cast of James Bond 19. Carlyle plays Renard, who has a bullet lodged in his brain which makes him immune to pain, in The World Is Not Enough, a fast-paced thriller set in the oil world. Production begins next week in London, with location shooting scheduled for Turkey, Spain and the French Alps.

All the Pretty Horses : Robert Patrick is near a deal to play Matt Damon’s father in the Billy Bob Thornton-directed All the Pretty Horses.

Secret : Ian Holm and Stanley Tucci will star in Joe Gould's Secret . Tucci will direct the film based on the book of the same name by Joseph Mitchell. Howard Rodman adapted the script with Tucci.

The Birthday Girl : Nicole Kidman is talking to join the cast of The Birthday Girl. Ben Chaplin will play a bored bank clerk who sends away for a Russian bride and gets more than he bargained for. Filming was tentatively set to begin in England in March.

U-571 : Bill Paxton, David Keith and Jake Weber join World War 2 movie U-571 with Matthew McConaughey and Harvey Keitel. Jon Bon Jovi is in talks to join also.

Wonder Boys : Robert Downey Jr. is in final talks to join Michael Douglas in Wonder Boys for Paramount directed by Curtis Hanson (LA Confidental). Downey is also in talks to join Courtney Love in the New Line flick Unless That Someone Is You for director Nick Cassavetes.

Cara, Cara : Natasha Henstridge (Species) has signed to play lead in Cara, Cara, an HBO film that begins shooting next month. Graeme Clifford (The Last Don) directs, with David Lancaster and Jeff Morton producing.

Elia Kazan : The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences board of governors has voted to bestow an honorary award on director Elia Kazan. Kazan will receive the award in the form of an Oscar statuette for directing such Oscar-winning and Oscar-nominated films as On the Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire, East of Eden, Gentleman's Agreement and America America.
