Space Cowboys : Tommy Lee Jones is set to join Clint Eastwood in the cockpit of the space shuttle in Space Cowboys. Clint Eastwood will direct the movie, which tells the story Eastwood and Jones' characters that are drafted by NASA to fly a crucially important shuttle mission decades after they were crack pilots and passed over for the astronaut program because they were too cocky. There are four cowboys all of whom are near retirement age after distinguished careers. NASA reluctantly calls them after a satellite launched in the '60s malfunctions and is headed back to Earth. One of the cowboys is about the only person with the expertise to fix it, and he'll agree to go only if he can take his buddies.

Mission: Impossible 2 : Ian McKellen (Apt Pupil, Richard III) is in preliminary talks to play a villain in Mission: Impossible 2 . The sequel will be directed by John Woo. McKellen will join Tom Cruise, Steve Zahn, Thandie Newton, Ving Rhames, Luther Stickell and Dougray Scott.

Detox : Dina Meyer (Starship Troopers, Dragonheart) has been cast as Sylvester Stallone's wife in Detox. In the film, a cop goes to a remote detox center for law enforcement officers when he is traumatized by his wife's (Meyer's) violent death. Once he enters the clinic, he discovers that patients are being murdered one by one. Kris Kristofferson, Polly Walker, Robert Patrick and Tom Berenger also star. Jim Gillespie (I Know What You Did Last Summer) directs the film.

Company Man : Ryan Phillippe (54, Playing by Heart) and Alan Cumming and Anthony LaPaglia have joined the cast of Company Man. The film also stars Sigourney Weaver and John Turturro. Set in the 1960s, pic tells the story of a high school grammar teacher who unwittingly finds himself in a plot to overthrow Fidel Castro.

Golden Globe Winners : Jim Carrey won for best dramatic film Jim Carrey won  for best dramatic film actoractor. Click to Jim Carrey Area for full details about his acceptance of the best actor award. Saving Private Ryan was named best drama, while Shakespeare in Love was chosen best comedy/musical at the 56th annual Golden Globe Awards. Ryan also won for director (Steven Spielberg); Shakespeare for comedy/musical actress (Gwyneth Paltrow) and screenplay (Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard); and Truman for dramatic actor (Jim Carrey), supporting actor (Ed Harris) and score (Burkhard Dallwitz and Philip Glass) at the awards given by the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. Reindeer Games : Ben Affleck has signed to star in Reindeer Games, the thriller that John Frankenheimer will direct. Reindeer Games"is the story of an ex-con who becomes involved in a scheme to rob a casino.

Love II Love You : Universal Pictures has paid mid-six figures against a potential seven-figure payday for Love II Love You, a vehicle for Will Smith to star. Love tells the story of a stockbroker who falls in love with a career-minded woman. When the relationship doesn't work out, his best friend, an experimental scientist, clones her out of sympathy for him. The stockbroker ultimately learns that too much of a good thing can be a blessing and a curse.

Half Way House : Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are said to be focusing on the Castle Rock feature Half Way House , an ensemble drama in which they'll both act. In the pic Damon will reportedly play a patient and Affleck a counselor. Damon and the newly single Affleck are also said to be working on the Miramax romantic comedy Like a Rock. For this film, Affleck will take the lead.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory : Nicolas Cage will star as candyman Willy Wonka in a new version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.The film is about a poverty-stricken boy who finds a golden ticket and wins a tour of a magical chocolate factory.

Frequency : Director Greg Hoblit (Fallen) will direct Dennis Quaid and Jim Caviezel in the Frequency. Caviezel will play a homicide detective who is able to communicate, via ham radio, with his dead father(Quaid), a heroic firefighter who died when his son was 7.

Wonder Boys : Tobey Maguire is in final negotiations to star opposite Michael Douglas in Wonder Boys directed by Curtis Hanson. The drama is about a middle-aged writer and professor (Douglas) who is behind on his deadline for the follow-up to his successful first novel. Maguire plays one of Douglas' students, a promising novelist with a tendency to fictionalize his own background.

Conjugating Niki : Claire Danes is attached to star in Conjugating Niki. Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal will produce. The film is about a 21-year-old New York society girl whose family loses all its money, after which she's forced to take a job in the Hamptons looking after an 8-year-old version of herself.

Jesus’ Son : Billy Crudup (The Hi-Lo Country) and Samantha Morton (Under the Skin) have agreed to star in Alison Maclean’s Jesus’ Son. he film cast includes Holly Hunter, Dennis Hopper, Will Patton in supporting roles. Son is a road movie that chronicles the volatile relationship between a man and a terrifyingly charismatic woman.

Biopic of Bob Marley : Ron Shelton has ankled the Warner Bros.-based biopic of reggae singer Bob Marley, and George Armitage is near a deal to direct the film

Rocky and Bullwinkle : Rene Russo is in final negotiations to star as Natasha Fatale in live-action/special effects film Rocky and Bullwinkle. Russo will star alongside Robert De Niro as the Fearless Leader, Jason Alexander as Boris Badenov and the computer-animated squirrel and moose title characters. Des McAnuff (Cousin Bette) is directing the project.

Return to Me : Minnie Driver is nearing a deal to star in Return to Me with David Duchovny. The story centers on a widower who starts to fall in love with a waitress only to learn that she received his late wife's heart.

Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? : Jennifer Lopez is in preliminary talks to star in Walt Disney Pictures' Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? .The adaptation, which at one point had Sandra Bullock attached to star as the world's greatest and most beautiful thief who steals for the greater good.

Monkey Bone : Brendan Fraser is in negotiations to star in Fox's supernatural adventure Monkey Bone. In the pic Fraser will play a neurotic cartoonist who is left in a coma following a car crash. While unconscious, he must team up with one of his creations, Monkey Bone, to battle Death and escape from Dark Town, the limbo-like locale between life and death.
