The Patriot : Mel Gibson has agreed to star in The Patriot which Roland Emmerich is directing. The film will be produced by Dean Devlin, Mark Gordon and Gary Levinsohn. The story is about a pacifist farmer who, along with his son, becomes involved in the American Revolutionary War.

Mission: Impossible 2 : The film's March 20 start date delayed for an unspecified number of weeks. Paramount, which is financing the picture, confirmed that the film's original start date has been pushed back a few weeks. It's unclear why the film's shooting day is delayed.

The Hollow Man : Elisabeth Shue has joined the cast of director Paul Verhoeven's The Hollow Man. She will play a female scientist who, along with her fellow scientist boyfriend, is stalked by a malevolent former co-worker who was turned invisible. It is unclear who will take the lead.

My Three Sons : Michael Douglas will produce and adapt the 1960s CBS sitcom My Three Sons. My Three Sons is the story of a widower and his trials and tribulations as he raises his three sons. Douglas will play a successful businessman who is forced to bring up his three boys on his own.

Reindeer Games : Dennis Farina (The Mod Squad) will star in Reindeer Games. The cast, which Ben Affleck in the lead, includes Gary Sinise and Charlize Theron. John Frankenheimer will direct the film which is about a man that runs a casino in line to be ripped off..

 STANLEY KUBRICK : Stanley Kubrick died from a STANLEY KUBRICK (1928-1999)heart attack yesterday, at his home near London. He was 70. He directed such film as Lolita, Dr. Strangelove, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Kubrick's films won eight Oscars and garnered 14 nominations, though none for best picture or director. We will miss him so much. Kubrick's final conversation with Warner co-chairman Terry Semel came yesterday a few hours before he died. The discussion covered the pic's marketing and minor additions to the score. "We were laughing, having a terrific time," Semel said. "We were all on cloud nine." Kubrick talked about two versions of an ad for the film as well as a few tweaks. Tom Cruise, who was in Australia, and Nicole Kidman, in N.Y., offered a joint statement through publicist Pat Kingsley. "He was like family to us. We are in shock and devastated. We did see the movie and it was completed except for final looping and mixing. We are thankful to have had the opportunity to share this experience with him. He was a true genius, a dear friend and we will greatly miss him."

Coyote Ugly : Jerry Bruckheimer will helm Coyote Ugly. Coyote Ugly will go into production in May for a November release. Film is about a country western bar in New York City run completely by women for male customers who love their sass.

Brad Pitt : He will not play in Cameron Crowe’s untitled DreamWorks pic. Pitt was in negotiations with the studio to portray the lead singer of a rock band..

The Replacements : Warner Bros. is in advanced talks with Keanu Reeves to star in The Replacements. The pic based on the real-life crew of ragtag jocks who served as replacements during the 1987 National Football League players’ strike. He would play the leader of the band of misfits who led the Washington Redskins to an impressive winning streak during that strike-shortened season.

Minory Report : Fox announced that Minory Report (Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg sci-fi thriller) will hit screens June 30, the Friday before the traditionally record-setting holiday weekend. Minority Report is set in a futuristic society and stars Cruise as the head of the Precrime Division, which arrests people for murders they have yet to commit.

Servile on Sunset : Rupert Everett will play an English lord in Servile on Sunset, who loses his fortune and is forced to serve as butler for a rich family.

.The Incredible Mr. Limpet : Director Steve Oedekerk will not helm The Incredible Mr. Limpet remake starring Jim Carrey. Oedekerk's departure may affect Carrey's involvement in the title role. The studio tapped writer Rita Hsaio (Mulan)to rework the script. Jim Carrey will read then script before making any decision. New director's list includes Barry Levinson.

Phone Booth : Michael Bay (Armageddon and The Rock) will helm Phone Booth. Bay wanted Will Smith in the lead. The thriller is about a man who enters a telephone booth to answer a ringing phone and never leaves the booth throughout the movie.

Next Friday : Steve Car is set to make his feature directorial debut in New Line Cinema's Next Friday ( Friday the Sequel). The film was centered on the misadventures of two out-of-work young men in South-Central Los Angeles (Ice Cube and Chris Tucker) on friday. In the sequel Craig, is forced to move out of his neighborhood and stay with his cousins in suburbia, where they relocated after winning the lottery. In a fish-out-of-water story, Craig and his cousins realize that trouble will find them no matter where they live. 

28 Days : Elizabeth Perkins will play a role opposite Sandra Bullock in 28 Days. Perkins plays the straight-arrow sister to Bullock, a newspaper columnist recovering in a drug and alcohol rehab center. Betty Thomas will direct.

Bless the Child : Kim Basinger is in negotiations to star in Bless the Child. Chuck Russell (The Mask) will direct the film which is centering on three generations of women in a family who fulfill a biblical prophesy and unleash a battle between good and evil.

Spider-Man : Marvel Enterprises and Sony Pictures Entertainment agreed to drop their lawsuits against one another over the film rights to the popular Spider-Man character and to produce motion pictures and TV shows. MGM has agreed to a settlement that resolves all of its claims to a new Spider-Man movie and made an agreement that includes the conveyance from MGM to Sony of a Spider-Man film treatment written by James Cameron.
