Church of the Dead Girls : Joel Schumacher will be the director of the upcoming thriller Church of the Dead Girls. The film is based on Stephen Dobyns' novel. The film centers on a small town that awakens to a nightmare of suspicion and vigilantes after the seemingly random disappearance of three local teenagers.

This Man, This Woman : Meg Ryan and Sean Penn are near to deal to star in This Man, This Woman. The script is from Eyes Wide Shut writer Frederic Raphael. The film is the love story of a couple working through the trials and tribulations of marriage.

Woody Allen's Next : Tracey Ullman (Bullets Over Broadway) will play the lead in Woody Allen's new film. Allen is keeping the film under wraps.

The Whole Nine Yards : Matthew Perry (Friends) will co-star with Bruce Willis in comedy The Whole Nine Yards. Willis plays a hit man who moves into the suburbs under cover of the witness protection program. Perry will play his neighbor, a dentist, whose wife wants him rubbed out. Jonathan Lynn (Trial and Error') will direct.

"The General's Daughter" Full Trailer (2.3Mb, MOV) The Official Site has released the trailers of the film Cast : John Travolta, Leslie Stefanson, James Cromwell, Timothy Hutton, James Woods and Madeleine Stowe. Simon West (Con Air) is directing the film which is about a military investigator (Travolta) who finds that the case of the rape and murder of an Army captain (Stefanson), whose father is a legendary general (Cromwell) leads to a complex and dangerous underworld of sex and cover-ups.

Miramax & De Niro : Yesterday Robert De Niro had a meeting at City Hall with execs from Miramax Films about a proposal to open a film studio at the Brooklyn Navy Yards. De Niro and his company are said to be very optimistic to deal.

Me, Myself and Irene : Actress Renee Zellweger (Jerry Maguire) is near a deal to star in the Farrelly brothers' comedy Me, Myself and Irene which stars Jim Carrey. The shooting starts in Rhode Island on May 19th and later moves to Vermont.

Rocky and Bullwinkle : Des McAnuff, the director of Rocky and Bullwinkle gave some details of Robert De Niro’s performance. He said De Niro is"going all-out as a supervillain." Continued saying "it will be De Niro like we've never seen him."Then talked about a scene which De Niro does "a very peculiar dance, one that can only be described as very idiosyncratic."

Box Office Challange : The Final Box Office numbers are released for April 9-11 weekend. The Matrix came out first with 22.5M dollars, Never Been Kissed 2nd with 11.8M. 10 Things I Hate About You and The Out-of-Towners took 5M each while Analyze This grossed 4.9M dollars.

British Academy Film Awards : The 51st Annual British Academy Film Awards are announced.Shakespeare in Love took 4 awards including best film,supporting actor and actress(Geoffrey Rush and Judi Dench)and editing.Elizabeth had the most with 5 including best actress(Cate Blanchett)and Cinematography.Roberto Benigni got Best Actor.Saving Private Ryan won the two sound categories while Truman Show got 3 including Best Director and Best Screenplay.

Standing Room Only : John Travolta will star against Kelly Preston in the movie Standing Room Only. Travolta will be playing the charismatic New Jersey Italian lounge act along with his real-life spouse.Gus Van Sant to direct the 50 million dollar budget movie.The shooting starts in spring.

You Can Count on Me : Kenneth Lonergan who is the co-author of Analyze This is close to direct You Can Count on Me. Matthew Broderick will star in the film which is about a single mother as she struggles with a young son a redneck younger brother and an obnoxious boss (Broderick). Shooting will begin on May in New York.

I Now Pronounce You Joe and Benny : Tom Shadyac is near to direct a comedy named I Now Pronounce You Joe and Benny which is about two hetorosexual firefighters who marry for insurance profits.The candidates for the head roles are Nicholas Cage and Will Smith.The script was written by Barry Fanaro.

The End of Eternity : Isaac Asimov's famous book of the same name will be a vehicle for Ridley Scott to direct. The story is a time-travel love story, centers on an Eternal named Andrew Harlan who makes the mistake of falling in love with a non-Eternal. Since Eternals are not allowed to have feelings, Andrew keeps his love a secret and begins to plan their escape by changing time in the couples' favor.

Bounce : Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck are close to star in a romantic comedy Bounce. The director and screenwriter is Don Roos and the estimated release date is late fall.The movie is about the characters in a plane which crashes.

Head Over Heels : Freddie Prinze Jr. will star against Claire Danes in Head Over Heels. The movie is about an art restorer (Danes), her supermodel roommates, and her attraction to a man (Prinze). Mark Waters will direct the movie.Shooting will begin in Vancouver this summer

The County : New York Daily News reports that Jack Nicholson is in negotiations to star as the stereotypical sheriff who patrols the lower half of the continental U.S.A in The County. The project is being developed by Nicholson's friend Rudy Durand. In the film Nicholson's bigoted sheriff would get his comeuppance from a black prosecutor, the town's former high school quarterback.

Dreamland : Leonardo DiCaprio wants to play in Kevin Baker's Dreamland. His Birken Prods. banner has optioned this sweeping historical novel set in turn-of-the-century New York. The story centers on Kid Twist, an Eastern European immigrant who arrives in New York as a stowaway on the same ship as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, who have come to the city to plug psychoanalysis. In New York, Kid Twist falls in love with Esther Abramowitz, a poor seamstress turned labor organizer. DiCaprio took a break from filming The Beach and watched a Thai boxing match then he partied at local RCA nightclub until 4 a.m., reports the South China Morning Post.

Remember the Titans : Denzel Washington will star as a black coach in Jerry Bruckheimer's Remember the Titans. Bruckheimer's wants another actor to play the other coach. The film takes place in 1971 based on events that happened when T.C. Williams High in Alexandria, Va., was integrated with black students from a nearby school. Both schools had good football teams, and the coach of the black team was a surprise choice to head the integrated squad. That was a tremendous blow to the white head coach, a grizzled gridironer who grew up in segregated Alabama and had to swallow his pride and prejudices to become an assistant working for to the black coach. The team meshed well enough to become state champs.

Life of the Party : John Cusack is in final talks to star in Life of the Party which is written and directed by Greg Mottola. The film is is about a group of concerned friends who travel to France to do an intervention on their alcoholic buddy (Cusack).

Monkey Bone : Bridget Fonda is in final negotiations to star in Monkey Bone opposite Brendan Fraser and Whoopi Goldberg. The film centers on a cartoonist (Fraser) who falls into a coma after a car crash and, though he appears to recover, only his girlfriend Jane (Fonda) realizes that he has been possessed by the spirit of one his obnoxious cartoon characters, Monkey Bone. While the cartoonist suffers through the nether world of Dark Town, where he's chased by Death (Goldberg), Jane must find a way to bring the man she loves back to life. Henry Selick is directing the film..

Battlefield Earth : Barry Pepper (Saving Private Ryan) will star opposite John Travolta in Battlefield Earth. the film which is directed by Roger Christian, is a sci-fi action-adventure tale set in 3000 A.D., when humans have become an endangered species under the ruthless rule of an alien race. Pepper will portray Jonnie, a hero who conquers the dark forces harnessed by bad-guy Travolta and goes on to save the planet.

Woody Allen : The casting to the new but yet untitled comedy film which Woody Allen will start shooting this fall, is partly clear. Woody Allen and Michael Rapaport will be in the leading roles.Allen is working to finish the script.He has also another untitled picture opening in the fall.

Cameron out of Spider Man : James Cameron will not be a part of the Spider Man movie. But this is not to say the movie is on hold. Famous screenwriter David Koeep will write the script.With Cameron out it is not clear who will direct it but many top directors are interested in this big-budget film.

Loving Lulu : Melanie Griffith will star against Alec Baldwin in an upcoming film named Loving LuLu.The movie is scheduled to start later this year.It is the second time the two will star together.The first was Working Girl.

Estimated Box-Office results : The estimated box office results for April 2-4 weekend are released.Keanu Reeves sci-fi The Matrix is 1st with 27.6M, 10 Things I Hate About You 2nd with 8.7M.Steve Martin-Goldie Hawn comedy The Out-of-Towners grossed 8.1M. Analyze This and Forces of Nature came 4th and 5th with 6.3 million dollars.
