Navy Divers : Robert De Niro is in negotiations to star in Navy Divers. Cuba Gooding Jr. is also in talks to join the cast of George Tillman (Soul Food) directed film. Gooding may take the lead in the film about Carl Brashear, who made U.S. military history when he combated racism to become the Navy's first African American deep-sea diver. The story takes place from 1940-70 and tells Brashear's real-life story. In 1966, he continued to dive after losing a leg during a salvage mission in the Atlantic and became the first black and amputee to earn Navy master diver certification.

Robert De Niro : Mayor of Brooklyn, Rudolph Giuliani De niro at the pess for new studio.announced a deal that would transform an abandoned Brooklyn Navy Yard shipbuilding facility the size of three football fields into one of the largest movie-making studios outside Hollywood. Robert De Niro's film production company, TriBeCa Productions, signed a letter of intent with Vornado Realty Trust, an equity real estate investment trust, to build the studio at an estimated cost of about $140 million to $150 million. Personally ... being a part of this is very exciting to me De Niro said at the news conference in the huge shipyard, which once built hulls for destroyers and battleships. According to Variety's Michael Fleming producer Larry Gordon may helm the Robert Ferrigno bestselling novel The Horse Latitudes optioned by TriStar in 1990 for a pic to star Robert De Niro,It’s about an ex-drug dealer whose wife is missing. He becomes the prime suspect when her boyfriend is found gutted. And Jamie Babbit (But I Am a Cheerleader) is set to direct Conjugating Niki for Tribeca Prods. The film based on a 21-year-old New York society girl whose family loses its money, after which she is forced to become an au pair for the summer in the Hamptons, looking after an 8-year-old version of herself. Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace : The May 16 benefit premiere for for the film has sold out, with more than $1.1 million raised for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Most of the 1,468 tickets were sold in packages of $5,000, $10,000 and $25,000. Since the premiere at Westwood's Avco theater is underwritten by Flexjet, all proceeds are a net to the foundation. And the official site has released four of the various commercials for the Prequel as well as the music video for Duel of the Fates. Oliver stone : Director Oliver Stone is closing his production company because of overwhelmed by incessant phone calls, a mountain of unsolicited manuscripts and occasional bad publicity. Stone said Monday he would dissolve the Illusion Entertainment shingle he formed with his producing partner Dan Halsted in 1995. ``Life has just gotten too hectic, and the price of producing was often too high,'' Stone said. ``I wasn't trying to be overtly commercial, and tried to help a lot of first-time directors, which was something I wanted to do since NYU Film School because I remembered how hard it was to get a first film off the ground. We never had a major success, but we made some pictures I'm proud of.'' ``We'll move forward the projects that are for me, but otherwise, I'm finished, I'm not producing anymore. It's overwhelming, the phone calls, the unsolicited manuscripts are never-ending, and I'd like to go back to writing.''

The Flight of the Phoenix : Michael Mann will not direct 20th Century Fox's The Flight of the Phoenix. Fox Filmed Entertainment chairman Bill Mechanic believes essential to the studio's bottom line: who pays for overages, or what a film spends beyond its set budget. Robert Zemeckis may direct the film.

Riding In Cars With Boys : Penny Marshall (A League of Their Own. Awakenings) is near to deal to direct Riding In Cars With Boys. Drew Barrymore is in negotiations for the starring role.The film centers on the lifelong relationship between a mother and the son she gave birth to at the age of 15 in 1968.

Reindeer Games : We have got info from Sarah who gave us info about the film before. Ben Affleck will star in the leed which John Frankenheimer is directing. Reindeer Games is the story of an ex-con who becomes involved in a scheme to rob a casino.

Well I got to meet Ben Affleck and Charlize Theron, and even got a video of them and that guy from Desparado and Con Air with them shooting a scene and even got Ben smoking...who knew? Gweneth Paltrow was also in town here to visit Ben. The movie will be out next summer and I think you already know the plot. They were here for a month and turned our town into Michigan during Christmas. They shot at our jail, one small strip mall, a forested area next to the river, a small trucker diner, and The Sandman Inn(they changed the name of course).

Oliver Reed died : Oliver Reed who starred in Women in Love Tommy and The Three Musketeers died Sunday in Malta. He was there for the production of Gladiator. Reed suffered a heart attack in a bar where he was drinking with his wife and crew members. He died in an ambulance going to the hospital. An autopsy will be made but Reed's death is not considered suspicious, police said. In the movie he was playing a trainer of gladiators. He was 61.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas : Christine Baranski, Bill Irwin and Mindy Sterling have signed to star opposite Jim Carrey in Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Carrey is playing the evil Grinch and Ron Howard is directing.

Eyes Wide Shut : Stanley Kubrick's Eyes wide Shut had received an R-rating from the Motion Picture Assn. of America.Warner Bros did not make a comment but told to be preparing a trailer for the movie that opens July 16 in US.

Two Thousand and None : John Turturo has signed on to play in Two Thousand and None. Turturo will play a brilliant paleontologist who's diagnosed with an unusual medical condition that causes a strange swelling of the brain and leaves him with just six weeks to live. Canadian director Arto Paragamian (Because Why) to direct the film.

The Crew : Burt Reynolds and Richard Dreyfuss are getting ready to star in The Crew.The film is about four wiseguys in retirement who get back into work to save their Miami Beach apartment.The budget is $25 million and Michael Dinner (Heaven Help Us) will direct.
