Dungeons & Dragons : Jeremy Irons will star in the adaptation of the fantasy game Dungeons & Dragons. The film is about a young thief who is caught up in political upheaval and must restore the world to its proper balance. Dinner for Two at the El Cortez : Variety reports that Dustin Hoffman and director Tony Goldwyn will collaborated on Dinner for Two at the El Cortez. Hoffman will produce and may be he will star in the film which concerns a middle-aged mother with Alzheimer’s and her family’s struggles to come to terms with her fate. As her health deteriorates, she encourages her husband to fall in love with another woman. Update : June 10th,1999
Vera Cruz : Disney's Touchstone Pictures is planning to make a remake of the 1953 Western Vera Cruz, which starred Gary Cooper and Burt Lancaster. Ron Shelton (Tin Cup,Desperate Measures and Gloria) will produce the film but the directors' name not known yet. The film is was about a group of adventurers who become involved in a plot to unseat Emperor Maximilian in Mexico. Bless the Child : Jimmy Smits (NYPD Blue) is in negotiations to star in Kim Basinger starrer supernatural thriller Bless the Child. Chuck Russell (The Mask,Eraser) will direct the film which Smits will play a detective who helps Basinger keep a child out of the hands of a satanist. The Invisible Circus : Blythe Danner (Forces of Nature,The Love Letter) will star in Cameron Diaz starrer The Invisible Circus. She will play a mother coping with the death of her eldest daughter (Diaz) as her youngest daughter (Jordana Brewster) seeks to unravel her sister's mysterious passing. Adam Brooks will direct the film. Navy Divers : After exiting from the project now Cuba Gooding Jr. is back to star opposite Robert De Niro in Navy Divers. Gooding agreed after participating in a script reading with De Niro. According to Hollywood Reporter because the movies' budget is modest Gooding asked for $2 million, and Fox stood tough at $1.5 million. But this wasn't the problem. Negotiations broke down after the actor requested that the studio hire his stunt double as stunt coordinator for the entire 15-week shoot, despite the fact that the star would shoot for only 10 weeks. Pic will focus on Gooding’s relationship with Billy Sunday (De Niro), a senior officer and master diver. Check out De Niro Section for more info about the film. 3001: The Final Odyssey : Empire reports that in an interview with an Australian newspaper, science-fiction author Arthur C. Clarke says he's negotiating with Tom Hanks to direct the film adaptation of the book. The two men sat on a panel held in conjunction with last April's special screening of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey and apparently kept talking long after the audience members went home. The Making of the President, 1789 : Ben Stiller is attached to direct the film which will be the true story of George Washington's ascent to his presidency. John Cleese is attached to star in the lead which Steve Martin is interested in. Update

Autumn in New York : Joan Chen is in negotiations to direct Autumn in New York. Richard Gere and Winona Ryder stars in the film which tells the story of a relationship centering around a New York playboy (Gere), approaching 50, who falls in love with a dying woman half his age (Ryder). Guam Goes to the Moon and Pluto Nash : Ron Underwood will not direct Guam Goes to the Moon which he had hoped to direct Vince Vaughn in the lead role of an astronaut who tries to help a Third World country mount a manned space mission. Now he will concentrate full-tilt on the othercomedy Pluto Nash which will star Eddie Murphy and possibly Jennifer Lopez.The film is about a futuristic gangster set on the moon. Mystery Men : Universal Pictures has moved up the release date of comedy Mystery Men from Aug. 6 to Friday, July 30. The film stars Ben Stiller, Janeane Garofalo, William H. Macy, Geoffrey Rush and Greg Kinnear. Shiny New Enemies : Tom Wilkinson (The Full Monty) and David Hyde Pierce will star in Shiny New Enemies which stars Steve Zahn, Salma Hayek, Jeff Goldblum and Orlando Jones. Pierce will play Marty Kerner, a smarmy personal assistant to Bollingsworth (Wilkinson). At the same time, he is also having an affair with Bolingsworth's wife, Gina. When Bollingsworth lapses into a coma after an attempted suicide, Marty fears that Gina will lose out on his insurance money and tries to make sure the old man never wakes up again. Captain Corelli's Mandolin : Nicolas Cage is in negotiations to star in Captain Corelli's Mandolin which will be directed by Roger Michell (Notting Hill). The film based on Louis De Bernieres' British novel which is a love story&drama, set on the idyllic Greek island of Cephalonia during World War II. Cage would play Captain Antonio Corelli, a sophisticated Italian officer (and musician) who commands the isle's garrison after the Italians invaded Greece. He soon begins a heated affair with the daughter of the local doctor; and despite their feelings for one another, they are forced to navigate their political and personal allegiances against the backdrop of war. Cage is currently strarring in thriller Gone In 60 Seconds. Star Wars: Episode I & Box-Office : The Phantom Menace break another record in its third week as it shot past the $250 million mark in 19 days, passing Titanic's 36-day record by more than two weeks. The movie took an estimated $32.2 million weekend total passing Notting Hill with $15 million and Instinct with $10 million.
