Jim CarreyThe Incredible Mr. Limpet : After Steve Oedekerk, Jim Carrey's friend and director, exited the project of The Incredible Mr. Limpet Warner Bros. has been waiting word on whether Jim Carrey will sign off. Rita Hsaio (Mulan) reworked on the script. It is reported that if Carrey signs off, producers Barry Levinson, Paula Weinstein and Bill Gerber will go to either Mike Myers or Robin Williams. It is also possible Carrey will step into Get Smart with Rob Reiner in talks to direct.

Tennessee : Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Michael Bay and screenwriter Randall Wallace teamed for Tennessee,a movie about the time of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor. The film centers on two brothers caught up in the events that drew the United States into WWII. One of the them enlists with the U.S. Air Force and the other flies for the RAF; and both brothers get involved with the same woman. It is reported that Wallace (Braveheart) will get more than $2 million to write the screenplay.

Angel Eyes : Jennifer Lopez is expected to accept the lead in Angel Eyes for Warner Bros. The movie is scripted by Gerald DiPego and a drama in which Lopez would play a cop reeling from the effects of an abusive childhood. She forms a healing bond with a man who has been traumatized since watching his son and wife die in a car crash. She is also in talks take the lead in The Wedding Planner which is directed by Adam Schenkman. And if you want more, she is discussions to join Eddie Murphy in Pluto Nash which is an action comedy set on the moon. Ron Underwood will direct the movie next year.

Elizabeth ShueThe Hollow Man : Columbia Pictures has decided to suspend production temporarily on Hollow Man after Elizabeth Shue tore her Achilles' tendon while working out on a trampoline at the gym. Columbia president Amy Pascal said shooting would stop today and resume sometime in August. She added that "We are thrilled with what we have seen so far of the film in dailies, and Elisabeth is turning in a great performance, she is an indispensable part of this movie, and we wish her a speedy recovery."

One for the Ages : Mark Pellington is in final talks to direct One for the Ages. The film is written by David Murray and it is an emotional drama like Field of Dreams and Hoosiers. The story is about on a college football coach who loses his team in an airplane crash. He spends the next year trying to return a sense of hope to the community, the families and himself by assembling another team to take to the championship.

La Femme Infidele : Stephen Frears (Dangerous Liaisons) is in negotiations to direct remake of French film La Femme Infidele. The movie centers the story of a married woman who embarks on an affair, which eventually leads to murder. Alvin Sargent (Julia) wrote the script

Bless the Child : Christina Ricci is in talks to take a small role in Bless the Child. The supernatural thriller starring Kim Basinger and Jimmy Smits begins shooting at the end of the month in Toronto.

Final Fantasy: The Movie : Alec Baldwin, Ving Rhames, Ming-Na Wen, James Woods, Donald Sutherland, Steve Buscemi and Peri Gilpin have signed to lend their voices to Final Fantasy: The Movie which is the CG-animated adaptation of the popular video game. The $70 million budgeted movie will be released in summer 2001.

The Perfect Storm : Actress Diane Lane has signed to play the female lead in The Perfect Storm. The film is an adaptation of the Sebastian Junger bestseller and it is about a ship caught in one of the century's worst storms. The other cast includes George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg. Clooney will play the ship's captain, and Wahlberg will play the key young crew member. Wolfgang Petersen (Das Boot) will direct the movie.

Tom SizemoreMars : Sources have confirmed that Tom Sizemore is joining Val Kilmer and Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix) in Mars. Sizemore will play an astronaut named Burcheva. The script by Chuck Pfarrer and Jonathan Lemkin. It is about an astronaut getting stranded on the planet. The astronaut finds out he is in grave danger after discovering that his government may have withheld vital facts about Mars' history.

Howard Hughes biopic : Michael Mann and Leonardo DiCaprio have pacted to team on a biopic of Howard Hughes. DiCaprio and Mann have long wanted to work together sources said. Johnny Depp also wanted to star in the movie but it seems DiCaprio took the role. No other information is available yet.

The Big Ticket : DreamWorks is in final talks with director Gore Verbinski (Mouse Hunt) to direct an action comedy named The Big Ticket. The idea belongs to Steven Spielberg and the script is written by Jim Herzfeld. The movie is about a young professional obsessed with watching car chases on the evening news. He gets a taste of what it's like to be on the other side of the TV cameras when a carjacking puts him in the middle of a wild car chase As the cops follow and the news helicopters circle above, the victim's life depends on his ability to unravel a scheme involving a kidnapping, a bank heist and a million-dollar long shot.

Big Momma's House : Martin Lawrence has signed to star in the action comedy Big Momma's House. Lawrence will also executive produce the movie which has a start date of August. He is also in talks to star in the Bob Simonds comedy This Means War.

Chris TuckerGuess Who’s President : Chris Tucker's next film will be Guess Who’s President which he co-wrote with Barryl Quarles. No studio is attached yet and Tucker is working on getting a director for a fall start.

Eyes Wide Shut : London Evening Standard film critic Alexander Walker, a long time friend of Stanley Kubrick, talked about the director's most anticipated movie. He called it "an astonishing work'' that reveals "a humanity that this director's detractors have insisted he did not possess.'' He added that like most Kubrick films, a single viewing is probably not enough to absorb all its meanings. And also Festival director Alberto Barbera confirmed that Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut will make its European opening in the 56th Venice International Film Festival September 1.

John CusackThe Man Who Robbed the Pierre : John Cusack has made a deal to adapt the Ira Berkow book The Man Who Robbed the Pierre. Cusack and Woody Allen will star in the film. The film is about the players behind the 1972 New Year's Day robbery of the posh Pierre Hotel in Manhattan, in which five well-dressed thieves handcuffed 19 employees and guests and walked out with more than $10 million in jewels and cash.

The Way of the Gun : James Caan, Juliette Lewis and Taye Diggs have agreed to star in the crime thriller The Way of the Gun. The movie centers two struggling criminals who kidnap a pregnant surrogate mother (Lewis) on the verge of delivery. The kidnappers are Ryan Phillippe and Benicio Del Toro. Caan will play an attorney representing a mob boss, and Diggs takes on the role of a hit man who works for Caan's mobster client. The script by Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects). McQuarrie also will make his directional debut.

Final Weekend Box Office : The final figures for June 18-20 weekend are released. According to that Tarzan got $34.3 million and came first. Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me second with $31,4 million and The General's Daughter came third with $22,3 million. Following them are The Phantom Menace with $18,8 million and Notting Hill with $6,9 million.

See Spot Run : Martin Lawrence will team with Tim Roobins again after Nothing to Lose in the comedy See Spot Run. No other information is yet known but it is reported that Lawrence will play a postal worker and get $10 million for the role.

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas : Taylor Mumson, a 5 1/2-year-old ,will play Cindy Lou Who opposite Jim Carrey in Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Although Molly Shannon and Bill Irwin star as her parents Betty Lou and Lou Lou, it is the relationship between the Grinch and Cindy Lou that provides the heart of the story. Ron Howard is directing and Brian Grazer is producing. The script by Peter Seaman and Jeffrey Price.

Leonardo DiCaprioThe Godfather : Several sources have confirmed that Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola are discussing to bring the fourth installment of The Godfather saga with actors Andy Garcia and Leonardo DiCaprio already on board. The story line is not known yet the movie will incorporate flashbacks and tell two different stories set in the past and present and Garcia and DiCaprio would never appear in the same scene. DiCaprio wants to play young Sonny Corleone which would then make him Garcia's father, but that is only a possibility. Puzo and Coppola will decide the final story line.

X-Men : Anna Paquin has joined the cast of X-Men. Paquin will play Rogue, a high school girl with psychic powers who is recruited by the X-Men to help fight their enemy, Magneto. The other cast includes Dougray Scott, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. The director is Bryan Singer and the script by Ed Solomon and Chris McQuarrie. Shooting begins in September.

The Perfect Storm : Mark Wahlberg is negotiating to star opposite George Clooney in The Perfect Storm. It is reported that Wahlberg's reps are talking with Warners about signing the actor to a two-picture deal. The other movie would be Metal God which is about a low-paid salesman in Ohio who moonlights as a singer in a band that mimics Judas Priest. Perfect Storm is based on Sebastian Junger's best-selling story of a fishing boat caught in one of the worst storms in history, and the efforts to send out a rescue mission when the boat went under.

Urban Legend 2 : Film editor and composer John Ottman (The Usual Suspects) is in final negotiations to direct and score the thriller Urban Legend 2. A deal is expected this week. The picture begins shooting before the end of the year. No cast has yet been selected.

Beat : Courtney Love has joined Norman Reedus (Eight Millimeter) in the cast of Beat. The movie is about a true love affair between Lucien Carr and Joan Burroughs (wife of Naked Lunch novelist William Burroughs). The film is written and directed by Gary Walkow and produced by Donald Zuckerman, Andrew Pfeffer and Alain Silver.

Weekend Box Office : The estimated box office figures of the weekend is as follows. Tarzan flied into the top spot on its debut with an impressive estimate of $34.1 million. Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me in the second spot with an estimated $31.9 million. John Travolta starrer The General's Daughter got an estimate of $22.3 million.
