Minority Report : Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg are thinking about partnering up for 20th Century Fox's sci-fi thriller Minority Report. The long-in-development project, penned by Jon Cohen from a short story by Philip K. Dick, centers on a cop in the not-too-distant future who works in the so-called Pre-crime Division. When he's accused of a murder he has yet to commit, he's forced to go on the run to solve his own case.The star and director have talked to Fox, but sources close to the project say any agreement is tremendously premature. Untitled Project : Brad Pitt is in preliminary talks to star in director Cameron Crowe's (Jerry Maguire) next film, which will be for DreamWorks. Pitt and Crowe have long wanted to work together and if a deal can be worked out, it looks as though the untitled picture will be the actor's next project after he wraps The Fight Club for director David Fincher. Untitled Project : Meg Ryan and Diane Keaton are set to star in and produce a network news-themed project for Castle Rock Entertainment. The film, still untitled, centers on the relationship between two women in the fast-paced, competitive world of broadcast news. The Crowded Room : F. Gary Gray (The Negotiator), has signed to direct The Crowded Room, a real-life story that has been considered a hot movie project since 1988, when James Cameron was developing it. The Warner Bros. film follows the travails of William Milligan, who developed a multiple personality disorder after being abused as a child by a sadistic stepfather. His book, ``The Minds of Billy Milligan,'' was co-written with Daniel Keyes. Bicentennial Man : Despite the presence of Robin Williams and director Chris Columbus, Disney put the brakes on Bicentennial Man because of a budget in the centennial range. The project is an ambitious adaptation of an Isaac Asimov sci-fi short story about a robot so intrigued by humans that it spends 200 years trying to become one. Nick Kazan wrote the script, and the plan was for Williams to play the robot, with shooting beginning early next year. While rumors grew that Columbus had already moved on, Buena Vista Motion Picture Group president David Vogel said the films destiny has not yet been decided. All the Rage : Josh Brolin has joined the cast of All the Rage alongside Joan Allen, Gary Sinise, Anna Paquin, Jeff Daniels, Giovanni Ribisi, Andre Braugher and David Schwimmer. The dark comedy tackles the controversial issue of guns in America and follows 10 dysfunctional characters whose lives become intertwined because of the investigation of an accidental shooting.
The Green Mile : Gary Sinise has joined Tom Hanks in The Green Mile. They both appaered in Forrest Gump and Apollo 13. The pic is about Death Row guards at a penitentiary, in the 1930's, have a moral dilemma with their job when they discover one of their prisoners, a convicted murderer, has healing powers. The End of the Affair : Ian Hart (Michael Collins,The Butcher Boy) is in final talks to join the cast of the Neil Jordan's up-coming The End of the Affair. Hart will play a private detective in wartime London hired by a man who suspects that his wife is having an affair with another man. The cast includes Ralph Fiennes, Julianne Moore and Stephen Rea. For Love of the Game : Brian Cox has joined the cast of the Kevin Costner baseball drama For Love of the Game . Cox will play the owner of the Detroit Tigers in the film. Invisible Circus : Cameron Diaz is negotiations to play a co-starring role in Invisible Circus, an offbeat drama for Fine Line which will shoot in Paris next May. The film will be directed by Adam Brooks. Seen through flashbacks, Diaz will play a woman who has killed herself. Gun Shy : Michael Weatherly (The Last Days of Disco) has joined the cast of Gun Shy opposite Sandra Bullock and Liam Neeson. Weatherly plays an agent assigned to back up his hero, a world-weary DEA agent (Neeson), who must get through one final case before retiring. Bullock plays a nurse who becomes romantically involved with Neeson.
Noble Father : MGM is waiting Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision about Noble Father. The offer is out to Schwarzenegger to star in the MGM police action drama written by Patrick Duncan (Courage Under Fire, Mr. Holland's Opus). While he prepares for End of Days, which rolls Nov. 21 in New York, he's also quietly talking to MGM about playing the lead, a father of three daughters. The studio and Schwarzenegger's William Morris agents nervously declined to comment while the star weighs the project. Josiahs Canon : Tony Scott is in negotiations to direct Fox 2000s Josiahs Canon . Pic is an action-thriller about a Holocaust survivor who leads the worlds foremost team of bank robbers on a heist of a Swiss bank that houses riches deposited by Weimar Jews who were subsequently murdered in concentration camps. Scott also is attached to direct the feature adaptation of John Le Carres The Tailor of Panama. And no deals have been cemented but the feature adaptation of Elmore Leonards Kill Shot is being developed for Scott to direct and for Robert De Niro and Quentin Tarantino possibly to star. Mars Trilogy : James Cameron has inked an exclusive pact with 20th Century Fox TV and a first-look deal at Fox Broadcasting Co., which has already committed 13 episodes to Camerons first TV series targeted for next fall. Fox also plans to air a Cameron-produced miniseries based on Kim Stanley Robinsons Mars Trilogy books, which Cameron will likely write. Fox is hoping the miniseries, about space exploration in the future, will be ready for a first-quarter airdate in 2000.Fox TV expects Cameron to direct the series pilot. Nurse Betty : Greg Kinnear (As Good As It Gets) and Aaron Eckhart are in talks to join the cast of Nurse Betty. They will be joining Renee Zellweger, Morgan Freeman and Chris Rock. Kinnear will play a soap opera star who is the object of a waitress' (Zellweger) affection. Traumatized by the murder of her husband (Eckhart), she confuses reality with her favorite soap opera and hits the road in search of the actor, who portrays a doctor. At the same time, the two men who killed her husband (Freeman and Rock) track her across the country. The Bachelor : James Cromwell has joined Chris O'Donnell and Renee Zellweger in romantic comedy The Bachelor. Pic is about a determined bachelor (O'Donnell) who has 24 hours to get married and collect a $100 million inheritance. His long-suffering girlfriend (Zellweger) becomes suspicious of his sudden enthusiasm. Cromwell will play a priest-in-tow who must perform the wedding ceremony.
End of Days : Gabriel Byrne is in final negotiations to play Satan opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in Beacon Communications' superbig-budget action-thriller End of Days.
