Robert De Niro : NY Daily News writer Mitchell Fink reports that "While the rest of us ride to parties on the subway, or buses, taxis, cars or in limos, if we're lucky, I sleep easier knowing Robert De Niro does it better — by helicopter. Jim Carrey : Jim Carrey tells Variety's Army Archerd that he's "finally coming back to myself" now that filming on the Milos Forman-directed picture has wrapped. You'll recall that Carrey was involved in several hijinks on the set, from allegedly ordering different trailers for different characters to getting into an altercation with the same wrestler Kaufman once scrapped with. Stuck on You : Jim Carrey and Woody Allen may star in brothers Peter and Bobby Farrelly's new film Stuck on You. "The theory is that Jim and Woody can be Siamese twins because they share a liver," the wild and wacky Peter Farrelly tells the Boston Herald. "Jim has most of the liver, so Woody's not aging well." In the story, the twins run a burger joint in Rhode Island but Woody's character wants to be an actor, so they travel to New York to audition for parts together. The Farrellys already have signed up Allen to star and have an offer out to Carrey.

Nominations for the 1998 Golden Globes Awards : The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced its nominations for the Golden Globe awards this morning. Shakespeare in Love, about the younger days of the Bard, and Jim Carrey's The Truman Show led the field with six nominations apiece, with Saving Private Ryan close behind with five. Bulworth, Elizabeth, Gods and Monsters, and Little Voice captured three nominations apiece. Click for the full list of nominations

Terminator 3 : A third installment of the Terminator franchise is quickly taking shape at Fox with Arnold Schwarzenegger in talks to reprise his role as the indestructible cyborg, with James Cameron planning to write and produce. At present he's not lanning to direct, but sources said that could change. None of the deals has been completed, but enthusiasm is high enough among the participants that the film will move forward.

13 Days : Universal decided not to go forward with 13 Days, the Cuban missile crisis drama which had a March start date and the star-director combo of Kevin Costner and Phil Alden Robinson in their first collaboration since Field of Dreams.

Finding Forrester : Sean Connery is attached to star in and executive produce Finding Forrester. The movie centers on a reclusive East Coast writer, rather like J.D. Salinger, who develops a relationship with an underprivileged young black writer.

Phone Booth : Mel Gibson, Will Smith, and Nicolas Cage are all eyeing the in-development thriller Phone Booth, says Army Archerd. The pic revolves around a man who decides to answer a ringing pay phone and soon finds himself drawn into a world of intrigue and suspense. Larry Cohen penned the script for the Zucker brothers.

The Bachelor : Mariah Carey is set to appear in The Bachelor opposite Chris O'Donnell. Carey will play Ilana, an opera singer, ex-girlfriend and potential bride to O'Donnell, who has 24 hours to get married and collect $100 million. The singer joins a cast including Renee Zellweger, James Cromwell and Brooke Shields.

Minority Report : Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise will work together for the first time on Minority Report, a sci-fi thriller. The deal announced is Wednesday. Minority Report, based on a story by Philip K. Dick, takes place in a futuristic judicial system in which killers are jailed before they get to commit murder. It will start shooting as soon as Cruise wraps Mission: Impossible 2 later this year.

James Bond 19 : Sophie Marceau has been tapped to co-star in United Artists’ latest installment of the James Bond franchise. Marceau will star as Elektra King, the daughter of a murdered oil tycoon whom Bond (Pierce Brosnan) has been assigned to protect. Denise Richards previously was cast as another Bond gal, nuclear weapons expert Dr. Christmas Jones . Michael Apted directs the film.

Gladiators : Joaquin Phoenix has signed to star opposite Russell Crowe in Ridley Scott's Gladiators. Phoenix will portray the emperor of Rome in the dramatic epic that is being co-produced by DreamWorks and Universal. It's the story of warriors who battle to protect their empire in the ancient city. Djimon Hounsou will also star in Gladiators, which is scheduled to begin shooting in February.

James Bond Series : Denise Richards is the latest Bond girl in the 19thEntertainment ASYLUM installment of the secret agent series. Richards will co-star with Pierce Brosnan in the still-untitled pic, which will begin filming in January in England and Turkey. Keeping with the Bond tradition of sticking as close to reality as possible, Richards will play a nuclear weapons expert named Dr. Christmas Jones. The actress joins a scantily clad lineup of Bond Girls that includes such stunners as Ursula Andress, Kim Basinger and Teri Hatcher.

U-571 : Matthew McConaughey is in negotiations to take the lead in Universal's long-in-the-works action pic U-571. If he signs, McConaughey will play the captain of a U.S. Navy ship sent on a mission to steal a decoding device from a stranded German submarine during World War II.

What Planet Are You From? : Mike Nichols is closing in on a deal to direct the Columbia comedy What Planet Are You From?, in which Gary Shandling will play an alien sent to Earth to be fruitful and multiply. The plot centers on the alien falling in love with a woman.

Night of the Iguana : Dennis Quaid and director Peter Gaga Antonijevic, who worked together on in the critically acclaimed war drama Savior, have committed to reteam in a remake of Night of the Iguana.

Gladiator : Djimon Hounsou is set to star opposite Russell Crowe in Gladiator for director Ridley Scott . In the epic drama about fight-to-the-death battles in ancient Rome, Hounsou will play the second-in-command to a Roman warrior (Crowe) who joins the world of the gladiators in order to exact revenge on a man who has banished him from the empire.

Keeping the Faith : Edward Norton is set to make his directorial debut on the $30 million romantic comedy Keeping the Faith. Norton will co-star in the film with Ben Stiller, with the latter playing a rabbi and the former playing a priest. No, this isn't some bad joke. The men are childhood friends whose relationship begins to unravel when they both fall in love with the same woman.

Love's Labours Lost? : Alicia Silverstone will star in a '30s style musical of William Shakespeare's Love's Labours Lost? . She has been cast by Kenneth Branagh as the princess in his musical version of the Bard's comedy, which will have the feel of a Ginger Rogers-Fred Astaire production. Branagh will star, direct, and adapt the Miramax film, which will maintain Shakespeare's original dialogue. Nathan Lane, Matthew Lillard (Scream), and Adrien Lester (Primary Colors) are currently in negotiations for supporting parts.

American Psycho : Chloe Sevigny is in advanced negotiations to star opposite Christian Bale in American Psycho. The on-again, off-again production is due to begin shooting next spring, with Mary Harron (I Shot Andy Warhol) directing.

The Specials : Rob Lowe, Jamie Kennedy (Scream), Thomas Haden Church (George of the Jungle), Judy Greer (Jawbreaker), Kelly Coffield (Jerry Maguire) and Melissa Joan Hart will star in The Specials.

Rules of Engagement : Samuel L. Jackson is negotiating to star alongside Tommy Lee Jones in Rules of Engagement, the Paramount drama to be directed by William Friedkin early next year. The story is about a soldier whose career aspirations are dashed when he's wounded in Vietnam combat. He then becomes a disillusioned lawyer, who goes up against the service to defend a soldier accused of inciting an incident that leaves many demonstrators dead. The lawyer's in no position to decline, since the potential client had heroically saved the lawyer's life in Vietnam.

Diamonds : Jenny McCarthy has joined Diamonds. The film stars Kirk Douglas, Dan Aykroyd and Lauren Bacall. Diamonds is the story of a one-time prizefighter who embarks on a journey with his son and grandson to find 13 mysterious diamonds.
