Hollywood, July 30 -- Paramount
Home Video announces a special new extended and unrated U.S. version of
Paramount Pictures' psychological thriller, JADE, for release on videocassette
on October 22. Expanded by the film's director, William Friedkin (The French
Connection), the special home video version will
include 12 minutes of additional footage never seen theatrically. JADE will have a suggested retail price of $14.95 in
the U.S. Making the announcement was Jack Kanne, executive
vice president of sales and marketing.
Starring David Caruso, Linda Fiorentino and Chazz
Palminteri, Jade explores the relationships between its three protagonists
as they become deeply involved in the
gruesome murder of a prominent San Francisco millionaire.
David Caruso (N.Y.P.D. Blue, Mad Dog and Glory)
plays an ambitious district attorney called in to handle the
case. His investigation points to his former girlfriend, now his best friend's
wife, played by Linda Fiorentino (The Last Seduction), a renowned psychologist
with a secret "other life."
Her passionate, powerful husband, portrayed by
Chazz Palminteri (Academy Award nominee for "Bullets Over Broadway"),
vows to defend her even as the
evidence mounts against her, and other pillars of society are implicated.
Shot on location, Jade features an exhilarating chase scene through the
streets of San Francisco, one
of director Friedkin's signature cinematic devices.
Jade also stars Michael Biehn (The Terminator,
Aliens) and Richard Crenna (Body Heat, the three Rambo films). The film
was written by Joe Eszterhas (Basic Instinct),
produced by Robert Evans, Craig Baumgarten and Gary Adelson.
Jade is closed captioned for the hearing impaired and will be available on both VHS and Beta. The new version's running time is 107 minutes.
Paramount Home Video is part of the operations
