Donald's Disney Directory

"What about the parades?!" you say?

Well, parades aren't exactly Donald's speciality, but here goes anyways...

Question numero uno:

Dear Donald,
If I want to get great camera shots of the new Hercules and Light Magic parades (or any other for that matter) without seeing a bunch of people's heads in the frame, what do I do?
Dippy Dawg

Donald says:
Dear Dippy,
First, if you really want the good shots like in the SPECTACULAR brochures that get you here in the first place, then you'll want to get a seat right on the curb. Now this isn't guaranteed to get rid of all those annoying heads, but you get most.
The advantages of this are: that you won't be standing up for and hour and all you see are a bunch of heads in front of you, and you get that great shot you've always wanted with the characters right up there, in your face.
The disadvantages? While in the front, the floats and characters are right in front of you, so it might be an awkward looking shot. Plus, you'll be looking up at them. Now if you're going for the Jiminy Cricket vantage point, then hey go for it! Another disadvantage is that you can't stand up. Let's just say the people behind you won't be happy mouseketeers if you do that. While you may be able to get the floats going up and down the street with that really cool perspective, remember that you will be in a corner area when the final product comes out. This, by the way, is where the "few heads you do get" come in from the people sitting next to you (yes there are other people on the curb too).
Must not forget: The main disadvantage is that you may lose valuable Disneyland time because in order to get a seat on the curb you'll have to get there a little bit earlier and wait. Unless you have someone with a big blanket that is willing to sit there and stake the place out.

Question 2:

Dear Donald,
What about the nighttime shows? Like Fantasmic and the new Light Magic?
Grim grinning Ghost

Donald says:
Dear Grim,
The nighttime shows are pretty much the same. Well, in fact they are the same. For Fantasmic, you might want to find a good center seat. It's been rumored that up on the Disney Gallery balcony, you can get a GREAT view and it's a great spot for a camcorder. But with all rumors, there's always something bad attached. That being, that you have to pay $30 to sit up there or a Disney personel will ask you to leave unless viewing the Gallery. But you do get a piece of pie for paying! But this is all a rumor. I wouldn't know since I'm usually in the nighttime shows. :) Also be sure to use good nighttime film.

Question 3:

Dear Donald,
Everywhere you hear about sunny California, but I seriously doubt it's always sunny. So what type of weather should I expect?
Baloo the Bear

Donald says:
Dear Baloo,
Well, you are right to trust your instincts because it is not always sunny here in California. During the summer months, though, you are practically guaranteed a sunny day, especially in August. But if you don't really want it to be too sunny when you go, check the chart below. But I wouldn't count on any snowfall anytime soon.

Question 4:

Dear Donald,
What time should one generally go to Disneyland? And what are the average prices for Disneyland tickets nowadays? Because "time is money", you know.
Scrooge McDuck

Donald says:
Dear Mr. McDuck,
If you want to be in Disneyland for a whole day, ride the rides more than once, and have lots of energy, then it would be best to enter right when they open. If you have a couple of days, you might want to avoid the crowded ticket booths by going a while after they open. In some occasions, you might even get a closer parking space by just going an hour later.
For the Disneyland hours check out the Disneyland - Park Hours and Show Schedules
The average prices of tickets vary from which type of ticket you wish to buy. There are seven different types of tickets you can get. They also change from time to time.
The following links will give you Disneyland's latest ticket prices and descriptions:

Regular and Magic Kingdom Club 1-, 2-, and 3-Day Tickets, Senior Fun Tickets, Guided Tour Tickets, and Annual Passports may be purchased at the Disneyland Main Entrance.
