"I found a candle!" Babs held up the meager light.
The group was clustered together at the top of the stairs, trying to determine which way to go next.
"I vote for any way but THERE!" Adri yelled.

"RUN AWAY!"
"Not that way!" The group skidded to a halt, and scrambled down another hallway as a ghostly figure came at them.

"AGH!" Jeremy Ray bellowed as a huge spider dropped down, blocking the hallway. They ran back and took another hall.

Bats came streaming out at the pirate group from a window and the crew ducked, waving their arms as they ran.

They skidded to a halt as a pair of glowing red eyes appeared out of a room. "Back! BACK!"

They skidded around the corner and came to a halt as a stone creature came to life stood before them.

"Nice...um...gargoyle," Falconfyre coaxed. "Cute gargoyle...."
Seeing one of the stone ears twitch forward, Tails added, "Here, nice gargoyle."
"What are you two doing," Rob hissed.
"Hopefully making friends," Adri said, elbowing him.
"Come here, fella." The two girls coaxed the gargoyle forward until it stood before them. Falconfyre held out a piece of candy. "I hope he likes this."
Tails shrugged. "Can't hurt."
The stone creature gobbled the candy bar and snuffled the girl's hand, looking for more.
"I don't believe it," Rob muttered.
The gargoyle took Falconfyre's hand in it's mouth and gently tugged at her. She shot a worried look at her friends.

"It's pulling a Lassie," Jeremy Ray joked. "Let's follow."
"I hope you're right," Babs muttered. "I'd hate to think it's leading us to a hungry den of gargoyles."

"Oh...," Rob threw his hands up. "THAT's reassuring!"
"Let's go." Tails gestured them to follow.
