so
instant

it was so instant
I mean, the attraction
I fumbled a bit
but hid my reaction
we sat on the porch
with a friend we both know
my shyness and insecurities
I tried hard not to show
I listen to you talk
your intelligence is keen
I wonder what you've done
I wonder what you've seen
I notice your short hair
and your smooth brown skin
I try not the stare
but looking is not a sin
I looked at your hands
and your nails cut neat
and I make sure
our eyes never meet
