The alien advance continues as a Dimension Gate takes up a position near the centre of the city, providing them with a whole range of new targets. X-Com's main research facility at Gates Of Destiny comes under threat, and is attacked by alien sympathisers Diablo. A combination of battle-hardened veterans and raw talent averts disaster.

Almost by way of response, the same base yields vital research shortly thereafter - the secret of the Annihilator. This comes not a moment too soon, as interceptions this week cost X-Com two of their three Retaliator attack craft.

This week is otherwise quiet, with occasional pieces of research coming in, and sufficient funds becoming available to purchase the "dream base" site.

It is the calm before the storm.
