When the guitarist/vocalist for that punk rock outfit, Smiley Joe left the
band to pursue a more ministry oriented group, drummer Jason and bassist Andy
realized this was the perfect oppurtunity to focus on the ska style they so
loved and cherished. Next problem...
They were now obviously WITHOUT a guitarist and a vocalist. What they, for
some reason, consider to be a valuable part of any band.
Well it just so happens that one day Andy was talking to a friend of his from
school over the internet. She happened to mention that she'd dated a guy who
was in a GREAT Christian ska band from Mt. Pleasant Michigan(2 and a half
hours away from Ann Arbor). Andy thought nothing of it, realizing how far the
distance would be for travel reasons. Funny enough that the next day he got
an e-mail from Brenden Clarke(her ex), saying that he was now in the next town
over going to college. Coincidence? We think not.
So ever since the addition of Brenden's awesome guitar style and Less Than
Jake/Blink 182-like vocals, The Pantlegs have been an unstoppable force ofska.
They guys all are Christians(for those of you who might be wondering, yes
they've accepted Christ into their hearts as their Lord and Savior), but
they've decided that it's easier to reach the unbelievers, if people don't
label you before they hear you. So The Pantlegs are not a Christian band.
Just Christian guys in a band. They see no difference, unless you are
labeled. Then you only get one kind of crowd. What good is a doctor if he
only aids the healthy?
