My Review:
(5/5)
With this album, I was hoping for a "Now In A Minute" Pt.2, to be honest. The debut album was absolutely magical, and there had to be more where it came from. And when I recieved the "Blue Planet", it was like...BOOM. I popped that CD in there so quickly, you wouldn't believe. I couldn't even figure out which track to listen to. So eventually, after some Benodryl, I calmed down, and listened to everything. From start to finish, I can say, this is no "Now In A Minute" Pt.2, but it's equal. "Blue Planet", Donna not only does her signature keyboard fairy-tale magic, but adds some new sides that any Donna fan would love to see. Her writing this time is more grounded, and the arranging I would even say is more complex. "I Could Be The One", is obviosly setting out to be the "I Love You Always Forever" Pt.2 with it's catchy lyrics and piano, but much of the other tracks are different. The title track is a beautiful, sad, almost cryptic message about the earth's shape. "Love Him" is a pontential radio hit, but not like "I Love You..". It's piano and thumping drum loops could get you tapping your feet anytime. "Heaven Sent You" is a haunting, harmony filled piece of art, whilst "Take Me Home" makes you feel like you are flying. So take my words, "Blue Planet" isn't a "Now In A Minute" Pt.2, but a new Donna era all in itself. A solid if there is any.
