These are Pictures Taken On March 23, 1998, During The First Day of
Resort Previews (which I consider to be the "true" opening). These Pictures Were
Graphically Enhanced to Make Them Unique; Believe Me, You Will Not Find Pictures
Like These Anywhere!! Due The Size of These Pictures, I Have Created Two Pages, So Don't Miss
Page Two!!!
ENJOY!!!
As you approach the Animal Kingdom, you first encounter the main gate, which was beautifully done. There is also a Rain Forest Cafe to the left of the main gate, it is very excellent and I recommend it highly. |

You next encounter what I believe to be the most breathtaking sight in the entire park, the fabulous Tree Of Life. This massive tree definitely lived up to my expectations. The Tree Of Life Garden Path is a must for everyone who wishes to see the true beauty of the tree from close-up. The tree is adorned with 350 animals carved into its massive trunk, and the 3-D movie about bugs (yeah that's right, bugs!!!) is actually housed within the base of the tree. |
You will next encounter the Discovery River Boats. These boats provide transportation from Asia, to Africa and Dinoland U.S.A. There is fantastic scenery on the cruise, so I highly recommend it. During the cruise you will pass Dragon Rocks, as well as geysers and many animals. This cruise also provides an excellent view of the Tree Of Life, which sits against the river bank. Animal trainers also walk up and down the aisles with with animals, while describing the animal's traits and other interesting facts. This is a beautiful cruise. |

Now its off to the village of Harambe, which is a recreation of an African village. The word Harambe means "coming together" and is an excellent example of Disney's attitude toward this theme park. This village is stunningly detailed to look like a very old African village. It is here is where you'll find the Kilimanjaro Safaris, which is the main highlight of the Animal Kingdom. |
Here we are onboard the Safari, as you can see it is stunningly accurate. This is a view of the savanah, which is straight from the heart of Africa. Isn't it just breath-taking!!! |

If a picture is worth a thousand words, I shouldn't have much more to say about the Safari. The fact is that, short of Africa, you will not find anything more realistic, anywhere!! |
