IMAGES

I sit razed by the image

An image of a friend

Long gone away.

Among the hands of reality

Leaving me with but an

Image…

An image of a history

An image of a past.

The image…

Of the promises

That lay unbroken

Along the shores of my lips.

As you calmly step into

My portraits…

Of my images…

I sit razed

Watching the waves,

Crash upon

The footprints…

That I hold onto forever

As I try to forget

You…

Your image…

Your friendship…

I sat razed

Knowing only the memory

Of unbroken promises

Except one….

Except one…

You said you’d never leave

You said you’d always care

We’d be friends forever

We’re stuck with each other,

And you lied…

Never once….

To me…

Until you did…

You did….

And you forgot my image

As you ran away

To reality

And I stood watching

By the shoreline…

The image of your footprints

Washing away

To infinity

And I sat razed…

By my own image

When I told you

Not to go.

And you did….

The one promise you

Couldn’t keep.

I am just an image

Gazing at an image

Of you,

Forgetting me:

An image

An image…

In the scrapbook

Of

unbroken promises…

EXCEPT THE ONE….

YOU WOULDN’T KEEP

And the one…

I couldn’t allow myself to believe.
