INTRODUCTION CONTINUED

When I became pregnant my partner and I  were both exicted and terrified. We spoke extensiveley of our philosophies and both agreed we would not harm this child. Harming to us includes neglect and ignoring the needs of someone who can not provide for themselves. We are cynics and aetheists who do not conform to hokey-pokey world of minivans and  modern country music. We are old punk rockers who were abused or neglected ourselves. So we talked about it alot, although talking is one thing and performing is well...another story.

If parenting is such a natural course our mortal lives than why in our modern society has it been turned into method and big buisness? It is sick and sad that poor Dr. Sears had to write extensiveley about being driven by the love for your child. How methodical is that? The best advice we ever recieved was while I was pregnant. Our friend, a mother  who's child was taken from her by invasive grandparents( now she is a junkie hooked on herion) said to us if your baby cries, pick him up. She breastfed for a year. Her baby slept on her belly for two years, until the custody was handed over. I was inspired.
