PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) gets its name from the many cysts that form in the ovaries. A normal ovary is soft and pink whereas a PCOS ovary has a hard, pearly, white shell around it.
PCOS causes a woman's testosterone level to increase which in turn causes many of the symptoms I list below. On my "Links" page, you'll find many sources to research about PCOS.

PCOS is also known Stein-Leventhal Syndrome or Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOD).
