WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PICTURES?
July 15, 2003 - Pictures Removed From Rant

 

This afternoon I received word that pictures that were used on THE BONE JANGLER's recent rant on the Flashback Weekend were used without permission from the photographer. These pictures were of TBJ, Nocturna, Ghastlee Ghoul, Baron Von Wolfstein, Count Gore de Vol and others that were in attendence at the Chicago convention, and helped illustrate TBJ's experience.

It was never my intention to use or take credit for other's work without permission; where necessary, we always try give credit. However, it was assumed from where the images were attained from that credit was already given - but you know what happened when you assume.

While I apologize for having used someone else's material inappropriately, I am exasperated from the photographer's behavior. Instead of contacting me directly about the pictures, I have to hear about it second hand:

"tell him no credit no pics"

If he had e-mailed me directly I would have apologized and asked for permission. 

Then, I could have dealt with another bone of contention he had, telling him directly  that I have no real problem with copyrights or contact information on the pictures; based on experience, I would prefer not to since I have to degenerate images so much so they can load quickly, and then text on images end up looking  like crap. I would have suggested using "alt-tags" where the information is imbedded and comes up whenever the mouse runs over the picture.

This would have been easy to deal with right then and there, but no...instead of clearing up a misunderstanding, adding a little bit of code that would have taken me 10 seconds to do, I have to waste time dealing with someone who has their panties twisted because they don't understand the difference between an intentional slight and an honest mistake.

One that may not happen again, as I have to no rethink the use of any photographs or images used on this site.

The pictures are off, and they will not be put back up, so please do me a huge favor and do not contact me about this. I have too much to deal with right now.

This site was set up as a fun way to promote current Horror Hosts, to give everyone proper credit, in an environment that is suppose to encourage and educate, but more and more people want to make sure and turn this into something about them, and (as I am busy juggling many other responsibilities) I have to ask myself, how much is this really worth it to me to keep putting up with petty bullshit.
