Born and raised in Transylvania, Dr Gangrene earned his degree in mad medicine at TSU, Transylvania State University, home of the mighty Fighting Bats. 

After graduation he set up shop in the Carpathian hills, practicing medicine on the locals there. With the rash of vampiric activity in the area it seemed he was never short of patients . . . but Doc Gangrene was an equal opportunity healer, and when a rather comely young lass entered his office one evening he went ahead and treated her - even though she was already dead! Her name was Dracula, daughter of the infamous count. 

Word soon spread throughout the undead community that a doctor had set up residence in the hills that would treat the undead for their maladies. His business soon thrived! He was overrun with monstrous patients - werewolves with thorns to be removed, vampires with a bad case of garlic burn, demons who had been exorcised and needed psychological counseling . . . any creature that entered his office was treated, no questions asked! 

Needless to say the locals didn't take too kindly to this news. They chose the typical peasant response to danger - formed a mob and ran him out of town! Over the years he has set up residence in a number of towns and countries, but has been chased out of each when word leaked out of the mad experiments he conducts in the dead of night.
