TERROR TOONS Hellooooo, This is Doctor Sarcofiguy giving you a review of a charming film entitled Terror Toons, from Brain Damage films. Lemme tellya, director Joe Castro has come up with a video that's right up the good Doctor's alley. A live action melding of Warner Bro. cartoons with the sensibilities of an axe murderer! |

Terror Toons
is the story of a group of "young" adults who are trapped in a
bizarre world of comic mayhem, mystically escaped from a DVD called
"Terror Toons." The culprits/antagonist are the wickedly gleeful
Dr. Carnage, an evil scientist (what scientist is ever good in these
things?) bent on unconscionable 'experimentation', and his sidekick Max
Assassin, an enormous monkey with rending, and terrorizing in mind.
With any, "lets-kill-everyone-on-screen" type movie, there must be a creative way of executing the, um--executions. I felt that all the deaths were handled quite creatively. The gore factor being off the chart. Just when you think you might puke from seeing, say, a stray amount of intestinal tract being flung about all willy nil, there are a complement of helpful, animated vultures hovering about, just to take you "safely" out of the moment. Terror Toons has zany and effective cartoon pacing whenever, and wherever, Doctor Carnage and Max Assassin are involved, as well as entertaining masks/make-up, and special effects. Terror Toons even boasts a 'Danny Elfman-ish' type score. Like the tinkling of a circus calliope, groaning a sardonic melody! Hey! That almost RHYMES! Stand out moments for me: the opening sequence, the "Strip Ouija Board!" scene, and Shimmy Max as "The Mother." I give Terror Toons three Czars out of four! -Doc Sarcofiguy |
