One of film world's hottest teen idols, talented dramatic actor
BRAD RENFRO has also garnered adult fans for building an impressive
filmography that includes performances opposite some of Hollywood's
most respected actors.
Renfro acted in school productions, and was ultimately discovered in
a national talent search at age 10. His first role was in Joel
Schumacher's 1994 film "The Client" opposite Susan Sarandon, Tommy
Lee Jones and Mary-Louise Parker. Having received critical acclaim for
his first effort, he went on to star in 1995's "The Cure" for director
Peter Horton, playing a young man who befriends a neighbor who is
living with AIDS.
In 1996, Renfro portrayed the legendary character of Huckleberry Finn
in "Tom and Huck." Working with some of the industry's most respected
talent, Renfro next went to work on Barry Levinson's "Sleepers," which
was released the same year. Based on Lorenzo Caracaterra's
autobiographical book on reform school abuse and loyalty between
friends, "Sleepers" co-starred Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin
Bacon, Brad Pitt and Jason Patric. He again co-starred with Bacon in
his next film, "Telling Lies in America" for director Guy Ferland.
In 1998, Renfro starred opposite Ian McKellen as a high school student
morbidly fascinated by Nazi atrocities who finds himself drawn to an
elderly, sinister war criminal in Bryan Singer's sophomore film "Apt
Pupil." Renfro's other recent credits include "Skipped Parts," "Meter
Man," "Delilah," "Happy Campers," "Tart," the acclaimed "Ghost World"
and "Deuces Wild."
He will soon star in "American Girl."
