DAVID BOREANAZ is perharps
best known for his role as the vampire Angel on the television
series "Buffy the
Vampire Slayer." His engaging characterization led to his
starring in the "Buffy" spin-off, "Angel."
Born in Buffalo and raised in Philadelphia, Boreanaz was exposed
to the television business at an early age - his father is a
weather forecaster for WPVI, the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia.
Young Boreanaz even appeared from time to time on his dad's show
"Rocketship 7" - which the senior Boreanaz hosted from 1962 to
1978. But it wasn't until Boreanaz saw a performance of "The King
and I" starring Yul Brenner, that he realized that acting would
be in his future.
Graduating from Ithaca College with a degree in film, the 6'1"
Boreanaz moved to Los Angeles to embark on his acting career.
While studying the craft of acting, Boreanaz lived the life of a
starving actor, making ends meet by parking cars, painting houses
and handing out towels at a sports club. Yet, it was while walking
his dog in a Hollywood neighborhood that a manager spotted his
brooding, intense look and instantly signed him as a client.
Boreanaz' first big break was a guest spot on "Married... With
Children" playing Kelly Bundy's (Christina Applegate) biker
boyfriend. He has also appeared on the television movie "Men Don't
Lie."
He had played only small parts in the feature films "Aspen
Extreme" with Paul Gross, "First Light" and "Eyes of the World"
before he was spotted by the talent manager who helped him land
the role of 'Angel'.
After his success on television, Boreanaz appeared in his first
starring role in a feature film. In the thriller "Valentine," he
played a college nerd who is the victim of a vicious practical joke
by four women. More than 10 years later, he is handsome,
charismatic and successful - and seeking vengeance. The film
received negative reviews upon its release, ultimately becoming
a commercial disappointment. His follow-up film is "I'm with Lucy,"
which will be released next year.
On stage, Boreanaz has performed at the Ensemble Theatre in "Hatful
of Rain," at the Gardner Stage in "Italian-American Reconciliation"
and "Fool for Love" and on theatre row in "Cowboy Mouth."
David Patrick Boreanaz was born on May 16, 1971 in Buffalo, New
York.
Boreanaz, who is divorced from Ingrid, lives in Los Angeles with
his wife, actress Jaime Bergman and their child, Jaden Rayne.
