One of the best garage producers and remixers during the 1990s was Kerri "Kaoz 6:23" Chandler, a native of garage-central New Jersey and a DJ by the time he was nine years old. Influenced by his father (also a mixer in his own time), Chandler also began producing tracks by the time he was 15, with help from fellow Jersey-ites like Tony Humphries and Michael Watford. His tracks for King St., Strictly Rhythm, Large, Nervous and his own Madhouse Records made him one of the top producers in the garage scene by the early '90s, with a discography including club landmarks like "(You're My) Inspiration," "Hallelujah" and "Stompin' Grounds" as well as more introspective, jazzy works like 1993's The Atmosphere EP [Shelter records]. Chandler's first LP was 1997's Kaoz on King St., followed later that year by a similarly titled mix album, Kaoz on King St.: Mix the Vibe. He has also recorded under aliases such as K.C.Y.C., Grampa [Movin records ] and Kamar, and worked on remixes for Byron Stingily, Kristine W., Ten City, Robin S. and Martha Wash.

1993's The Atmosphere EP: "Deep and devastating body music that can never be duplicated. " -- Shelter records

[...] But let's not forget Mr. Kerri Chandler's releases on Large! Back in the early 90's, almost nobody in charge here in the States gave a damn about him, and he mostly killed the always open-minded British audience with his DJ appearances overseas, and then Large released the first record from his now 4 pieces-strong "Raw Grooves" series (1995). For me and for many others, this record was always special (and still is!), with Kerri's hard and dark vibes in combination with his typical melodies and characteristic New Jersey sounds. I still spin this record on a regular basis, because it represents like all of Large's records timeless house music. So I finally discovered another fact: Large releases timeless house music!

When asked about his [Kerri Chandler] relationship with King Street Records in which he has done so much work within the late 5 years, he replies, King Street is like my family. Hisa Ishioka (label owner) has allowed me to take my craft in the direction I felt like taking it. As opposed to most labels which are mainly interested in me recreating something I've done in the past".
