Sensorineural Hearing Loss
- Definition
- Occurs in the inner ear as a result of the tiny,
delicate hairs of the cochlea being damaged in someway.
- Causes
- Certain Diseases
- Head Injuries
- Certain Drugs
- Aging
- Problems at birth
- Heredity
- Excessive Noise

- Treatment
- This type of hearing loss is irreversible once the hair
cell is gone it will not rejuvenate and there is no surgical procedure to repair it.
Hearing aids, FM systems, and other communication devices are used to help compensate for
the hearing loss.
