Witchblade is a great book and a success due to the chemistry that Marc Silvestri (Image Comics Co-Founder and Top Cow Studios President) formed when he put together a team of great writers and several talented artist, including a young up and coming penciler by the name of Michael Turner. The team of Michael Turner, David Wohl, Christina Z, Jonathan D. Smith, and D-Tron, assembled and created an awesome comic book.
Complimenting Michael Turners masterful penciling skills and sharp attention to details are inkers, D-Tron and Jonathan D. Smith, who bring Turners drawings to life with their bright and vivid colors. After previous co-writer Brian Haberlin moved on, Christina Z. stepped up from assistant writer to a main co-writer accompanying David Wohl. These two superb writers have given each of the characters a rich and deep personality. Combined with the works of Turner, D-Tron, and Smith, Wohl and Z. make this book more then just a piece of artwork, they've given it a story-line in which the reader can follow intently every month just as if they were reading a mystery novel. Together as a team they've brought us a comic book that has personally amazed me as a reader and has literally carried Image Comics as well as help booster Top Cow Studios to elite status in the world of comics today. Here is David Wohl telling us why he thinks Witchblade is a success.
"One of the greatest aspects of Witchblade is that this book truly is a team effort. The writing, the penciling, the inking, the coloring and the lettering are all blended together, and that synergy is the key to Witchblade's success." - David Wohl (Witchblade Co-Writer and Co-Creator) |
