PENDULUM HOME PAGES Many resources and links, primarily related to bipolar (manic-depressive) disorder. Their digest list open by referral only right now.

MENTAL HEALTH NET An all inclusive site for a wide range of mental illnesses. They have many professional and personal links. It's like all stop shopping!

DR. GROHOL'S PSYCH CENTRAL Another comprehensive site with many great links. I don't care what your "disorder" is, but this site probably has both information and links for it.

DR. IVAN'S DEPRESSION CENTRAL Again, great information from a great researcher. Geared towards affective disorders, depression and bipolar disorders are well covered.

DR. BOB'S PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY TIPS The name says it all. Essential reading for all of us who take psychiatric medications.

THE SCHIZOPHRENIA HOME PAGE The site is dedicated to schizophrenia, one of the most complicated and debilitating diseases. Great source for both people with this disease and their families.

WALKERS IN DARKNESS This site and it's related on-line digest is dedicated to people who suffer from depression (unipolars) as well as bipolars. Their digest list is open right now, and it is one of the most supportive and friendliest lists/digests in cybertown!

MENTAL HEALTH INFOSOURCE Another all inclusive site for various consumers of mental health. Loads of good links and information. If I remember right, they even have a mental health oriented search engine!

THE BIPOLAR INFORMATION NETWORK A unique site with the latest news on bipolar disorder. It has a link to the mailing list for Roses-And-Thorns. The site also contains FAQ about bipolar disorder, the Bipolar Bulletin Board, and features live chat every Monday from 7:30 to 10:00 P.M. EST.

AMERICAN PSYCHIATRIC PRESS Publishers of psychiatry and mental health books and journals. The site features an electronic library, catalog of publications, several free online journals, hot books for professionals and the public, links to psych sites, and much more. The online journals tend to be very technical so grab a dictionary!

PSYCH WEB This is a college based site primarily for psychology majors. It has books, brochures, discussion pages, and commercial site links. There is a feature titled FIND ANYTHING but I was unable to find Jimmy Hoffa!

INTERNET MENTAL HEALTH ENCYCLOPEDIA Their motto is "sharing mental health knowledge with the world." The have several interesting features which include; the 52 most common mental disorders, the 67 most common psychiatric medications, an online magazine, and, to see how screwed up you really are, online diagnosis for: major depressive disorder, substance disorders, and personality disorders. I didn't even try.

NET PSYCH This one has a list of self help groups in the newsgroups. It also has the inevitable links but with a twist! For a fee you can be psyched out on the web through various online psych services. There is online chat with Dr. John Grohol, Psy.D every Wednesday from 9:00 to 10:30 P.M. EST. There is a billboard with different pdocs and psychologists, discussion forums, and e-mail links to psych services. Remember the old Latin phrase "CAVEAT EMPTOR!

STANLEY CENTER FOR THE INNOVATIVE TREATMENT OF BIPOLAR DISORDER This is the cutting edge of bipolar research. Stanley Center is basically a bipolar registry, participants get a quarterly newsletter. Topics include available clinical trials, articles by other bipolars, medication innovations and tips, and general information on what the latest research has found. This site is a gateway to get bipolars signed up for their program. I joined over six months ago. They give you periodic interviews via the phone, and if you are lucky enough(?) to live in Pittsburgh, you can go to the center for treatment and medications. Annual seminars are held at the center, and all participants are invited. I highly recommend signing up.

THE WINDS OF CHANGES:UNDERSTANDING BIPOLAR DISORDER A personal mental health related web site. Good links and, of course, good poetry. I recommend this page for the content and links! The author has a list of books about Bipolar Disorder that many may find helpful in attempting to understand this disease. The author explains the various types of Bipolar Disorder. (It comes in many flavors, colors, and forms!)

EKS WEB SITE Expert Knowledge Systems Site. Available are patient and family guidelines for the following disorders; Bipolar, OCD, and Schizophrenia. The handouts are available in English and Spainish.

DUAL DIAGNOSIS WEBSITEDual diagnosis is when you are mentally ill and use drugs or alcohol. Dual diagnosis seems to be the trend of psychiatric treatment for the 90s. You are considered a candidate for dual diagnosis if you are an occasional user of drugs and/or alcohol. Good news isn't it! Anyway, the site is ran by Kathleen Sciacca, MA who is an expert on dual diagnosis. The site contains a list of training seminars for healthcare providers (I assume) and a whole lot of downloadable literature on the subject. Better stop by before you take that next drink or whatever.

THE ART OF HEALINGThis is not really a mental health site, it is ran by Dr. Mazziotti, MD, PhD. who is in general medicine. We all have to stop at our regular docs to get out HMO/PPP's permission to see our shrinks though. The doctor has some neat stuff for people who are into alternative medicine. Included on the site is a test for macular degeneration (loss of central vision, no, I didn't take it!), information on the popular St. John's Wart (sic), nutrition and fiber (a healthy colon is a happy colon!), poetry, and he runs a monthly contest! The prize is a $50 savings bond. A good site to look over.

NEDERLANDSE STICHTING voor MANISH DEPRESSIEVEN This is, as you may be able to tell, a mental health site in the Netherlands. Most of it is in Dutch but you can get the gist of what is being said if you try. There are two pages in English, "Pregnancy and MD" and "Thesis on MD." Both are very informative and worth reading, as a matter of fact, as of yet this is the only place that I've seen the pregnancy issue addressed. The site contains many links, some within the Netherlands, others are international. I highly recommend visiting this site. (P.S. Don't forget to enter the Playground by clicking on the flying pig!)

BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER Had a lot of requests for this one! Many of us don't know what BPD is and you still won't after reading the diagnostic criteria. BPD still sounds an awful lot like bipolar disorder in many ways.

CHECK BACK, I'LL BE UPDATING THE MENTAL HEALTH LINKS SOON.
