FAIR GAME?

Recently the Ontario Court of Appeals upheld a Lower Court Decision which made the Church of Scientology(tm) the only criminally convicted 'Church' in Canadian history. Reverend Al Buttnor of the Church of Scientology(tm) of Toronto is quoted in the Globe and Mail as affirming: "...that the church... ...had taken steps to ensure that this type of conduct would never be repeated."

Scientology's criminal record came about as a result of 'Church' administrators avidly pursuing a paranoid doctrine called the "Fair Game Policy".

Is the morally bankrupt and unethical 'Fair Game Policy' truly a thing of the past? Or is Reverend Buttnor simply telling "an acceptable truth"?

It is relatively easy to figure out, if you follow some of the twisted set of rules which governs Reverend Buttnors every action.

By selectively quoting from UseNet Archives, such as DejaNews, Reverend Buttnor deliberately chose to attempt to mislead the public about the Protest I led of the Church of Scientology(tm) of Toronto in the following areas :

Reverend Buttnor knew full well my views and activities were not as he has misconstrued them when he constructed in his flawed handout. This is obvious as he stated, in openly tape recorded conversation that: "You posted them on the Internet". Therefore, since Reverend Buttnor had no other source of information about me, he had to ignore or omit or twist the following Net Archived statements of mine:

On the topic of justice being sought and imposed upon OSA Clams (Staff) who commit murderous 'war crimes', this exchange of wry humour with a poster called Big Beard:

Gregg:
"IMHO those of the Cos who seek to implement their aims and impose their doctrine have declared war on humanity and "should be dealt with as wolves are". (Politically and conservationally incorrect but conveys the feeling.)"

Big Beard :
"Wolves have been bad rapped enough. Yeah, I see the disclaimer but that really should have been "should be dealt with as wolves used to be." Besides, if you give them half a chance a wolf is friendlier and a LOT more honest than Cof$ will ever be."

Gregg:
"Quite right Big Beard. I sit corrected. Wolves are a lot friendlier. They also don't pretend to be anything else except a wolf. Therefore I withdraw the above and rephrase:" IMHO those of the Cos who seek to implement their aims and impose their doctrine have declared war on humanity and "should be dealt with as wolves used to be."

The following states explicitly my position on deprogramming.
And my knowledge that the Office of Special Affairs is listening in:

Gregg:
"I am saying this here because I know this is all OSA monitored. Previously I had tolerated some of the alarmist talk of posters here as a little paranoid, justifiably so, given Cos track records, but I thought just a leetle bit overthetop... EHHH! Wrongo.

I know this is monitored because I have received a few calls, on my listed number, asking me to be involved in a deprogramming action, which are almost invariably deemed illegal. I have stated here and to my callers that I do exit counselling by referral. Referral from local Clergy. On an unlisted number. I also counsel anonymously through the email and snail mail.

I do not do deprogramming.

That involves a Major Imposition and is actually against my Spiritual and cultural beliefs."

I focus on aiding and supporting those who, of their own initiative, decide to leave controlling environments such as the Co$:

[Here I am 'pestering' cult shill William T:]

"If you ever wish to leave the Church, please feel free to contact:

atlan@cgo.wave.ca
or
esicncil@cgo.wave.ca

We will assist you in exploring your options, letting you decide your course of action. We are non denominational exit counsellors from cults. We are not deprogrammers.

And you may want to reach out to us or someone like us. For, by being willing to contact this NG you are deeply in trouble with your Masters.
Or, if ordered to contact this NG, then, your Masters consider you *expendable*.
In either case you will probably end up in an Ethics check, maybe even the RPF.
You do know about the RPF?
The necessity of the RPF as a tool of discipline and control of Cos members is the clearest demonstration of the total invalidity of the methods, operation, aims and purposes of Cos.

Remember, if you are punished for contacting us, then leave. Go to a safe place. Try any Church , Temple or Mosque of the orthodox open faiths and ask for a quiet place to think. Try the nearest Sally Anne.

You can be safe away from the Cos, but you will never be safe *in* the Cos.

Good Luck."

On April 13th 1997 I posted to the Net and to Martin Hunts: Whos Who On ARS, a public statement. Here is exactly why I am opposed to some parts of the Church of Scientology. It is not the madness but the methods I deplore.

Gregg Hagglund, elrond@cgo.wave.ca. Priest in an obscure "New Age" denomination, Gregg is active on a referral basis as an exit counsellor to those leaving controlling "new age" cults. After attending a private workshop on the needs and fears of those exiting/escaping from Scientology he became interested in researching the cult and its activities. After lurking for several months on a.r.s. and having done a lot of reading Gregg has committed himself to open opposition to the Cos.
"I am opposed to Cos because of the harm it does in the name of religion and under the guise of a religion, when it is clearly operating as a business, con game and money scam. It is their presumed right to conduct harmful activities and impose their will on others without limit I oppose, not whether they in believe Xenu etc. The programmed activities and repressive actions [sanctioned by the hierarchy of the Cos] upon their own members and anyone they deem "enemy" are extremely aggressive, abusive and routinely inhumane. I believe the rapid nonviolent demise of this criminally active money hungry cult will preserve the lives and sanity of thousands, if not millions of individuals throughout the world." (By: Gregg Hagglund)

Additionally Reverend Buttnor stated I am planning a career out of exit counselling and by staging a protest and being a participant in alt.religion.scientology, he claims I am attempting to drum up clients for my business: 'The Enlightened Self Interest Council for World Harmony.'

The ESI Council is an abbreviation for the much longer name. I've never used the long form on the Net. A name search at Consumer and Corporate Affairs on ESI Council would turn up the longer form of my businesses name.

But nowhere on that Retail and Manufacturing Business Registration does it say anything about 'Exit Counselling'.

How does all this reveal Reverend Buttnor has implemented the reprehensible 'Fair Game Policy' to deal with my critical activism?
He, as the local Head of the Church of Scientology(tm), would not want to fall prey to this assessment:

HCOB 27 September 1966
"THE ANTI-SOCIAL PERSONALITY
THE ANTI-SCIENTOLOGIST"

......."ATTRIBUTES - The anti-social personality has the following attributes:

"1. He or she speaks only in very broad generalities. 'They say...'
'Everybody thinks...' 'Everyone knows...'" [...]

"2. Such a person deals mainly in bad news, critical or hostile
remarks, invalidation and general suppression."

"3. The anti-social personality alters, to worsen, communication when
he or she relays a message or news. Good news is stopped and only bad
news, often embellished, is passed along."
(snip)

But, that is exactly what Reverend Buttnor did.

He altered communications from me; dealt mainly in bad news to try to taint me by association; stopped any good news about me from entering his invalidating communique; and as an embellishment, stated that I was using a Handmade Craft Retail and Manufacturing Business to earn money as an evil  deprogramming 'exit counsellor'.

However, despite appearances, this is not  a classic display of Hubbardian defined Anti-social personality. Reverend Buttnor escapes the Scientology label of "Anti-Social" because the HCO Policy Letter of 18 October 1967, Issue IV: PENALTIES FOR LOWER CONDITIONS states in part:

"ENEMY:
SP Order. Fair game. May be deprived of property or
injured by any means by any Scientologist without any
discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued
or lied to or destroyed."

Reverend Buttnor is simply implementing against me the 'Fair Game Policy' which he advised the Globe and Mail was no longer in effect.

Truthfully, Hubbard ordered the name 'Fair Game' be dropped. This was done as a response to the massive US and Canadian Prosecutions against high ranking Scientology staff in the late 70s and early 80s. However this was just a cosmetic ploy.
Hubbard specifically ordered the operative components of the Fair Game Policy to be continued.

Reverend Buttnor knows this.

But did he mislead the Globe and Mail?

No. Not in Scientology terms.

Reverend Buttnor simply told the Globe and Mail "an acceptable truth".

And thus operates the 'Church' of Scientology(tm): "The Thriving Cult of Greed and Power".
