Irvine Bike Trail
Description
It's not really called the "Irvine Bike Trail". That's my name
for it because it takes you through a lot of Irvine. This is not an
off-road track. Surface is asphalt. Lots of people use it.
It's basically one long stretch of trail which "starts" from roughly
Jamboree and University and goes all the way to Jeffrey and Alton...
a strecth of about approximately 9 miles or so (not the direct route).
After starting at University/Jamboree, it runs along University until
University meets Harvard, then the trail runs along Harvard.
When you reach close to Harvard/Barranca, the trail veers right and
goes sort of meanders between Barranca/Alton
The trail continues until you hit Jeffrey. You should pop out on
Jeffrey in between Alton and Barranca
NOTE: Around Jamboree and University is also where you can find
the beginnings of the Upper and Lower Newport Bay Trails.
On this trail you will find (assuming you start at Jamboree/University)
- A drinking fountain (which I don't think works yet)
- running near a river bed (which is cool if it has rained)
- Running next to a busy street
- Eventually gets away and is behind an apartment complex (lots of
trees)
- Curves behind Target and shopping center
- Continues behind shopping centers, apartments, and parks
- Ends at Jeffrey & Alton (water fountain)
- Bathrooms? There should be one in Target (which is about 12 miles
from Jamboree/University)
