- Article I-Name
The name of this organization is the Golden Key International Honour Society Alumni Chapter of Houston, Texas.
- Article II- Purposes
The purposes of the alumni chapter will be to promote the interests and welfare of Golden Key International Honour Society, to encourage friendship and networking among Golden Key members, to provide a communication link between Golden Key and its alumni members, to enhance Golden Key's presence in the community, to provide social and educational opportunities for Golden Key alumni, to encourage Golden Key alumni participation in community activities, and to support Golden Key undergraduate chapters in the area.
- Article III- Membership and Dues
Section 1. All graduated members of Golden Key International Honour Society are eligible for membership in the alumni chapter.
Section 2. The officers of the alumni chapter will establish the local annual membership dues subject to the approval of the Golden Key International Headquarters.
- Article IV- Officers
Section 1. The officers of the alumni chapter will generally consist of a President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, PR Officers, Web Master, Historian, Communications officer and Treasurer all of whom must hold membership in the Golden Key International Honour Society. The chapter can decide to elect officers and create positions as needed. Officers and duties will be determined as needed by the current officers subject to majority vote by the current officers. All officer positions with description of the current duties will be kept on file for the term of office. The term of office will be for at least one year, or until a successor has been identified. Unless specified otherwise, in the event of a vacancy, the president will appoint a replacement, subject to the approval of a majority of the remaining officers, for the remainder of the term.
Section 2. The duties of the officers will be such as are generally exercised by such officers.
A. President- The President will preside at all alumni chapter meetings and will be ex officio member of all committees. (And take on necessary duties when no one else volunteers.)
B. Vice President - serves as chair of programs and will oversee the programming committee(s). Responsible for planning or forming committee(s) to plan all social and other events. In absence of the president the Vice-President will perform the duties of the president.
C. Second Vice President - serves as chair of membership and will oversee the membership committee. Responsible for seeing that new and prospective member(s) are greeted and informed of chapter events and meetings. Responsible for planning at least one annual membership event. Will assist Vice-President in event planning and in the absence of Vice-President will perform the duties of the Vice-President.
D. PR Officer- responsible for public awareness of the chapter at local universities and in the community.
E. Web Master- manages and maintains web site and is responsible for timely and current information posting.
F. Communications officer - responsible for maintaining records of meetings, updating of email address book, and reporting meeting minutes to members. Also communications officer will email members to notify them of upcoming meetings, updates and changes that have been implemented to the web site - which will serve as our information bulletin board.
G. Historian - Will maintain an overview of all events and happenings of the chapter. Will attend local regional, and international GK conferences and membership event and develop materials to help present the chapter (with the help of a committee if necessary).
H. Treasurer - The treasurer will supervise all receipts and expenditures and will be in charge of financial arrangements for all meetings, programs and events. The treasurer will propose an annual budget for approval of the alumni chapter officers and will send a financial report to the Golden Key Director of Alumni and Development.
Any positions/responsibilities that are not elected will be divided amongst the other officers on an as needed basis.
Section 3. An officer may be removed from office for non-performance of duties or for reasons of conduct unbecoming of the Society by a majority of the remaining officers.
- Article V- Meetings
The alumni chapter will hold at least one meeting per year for the purposes of conducting the business of the chapter, including but not limited to the election of officers. The alumni chapter must hold at least one other activity, event or program per year that serves the purposes as stated in Article II. A quorum will consist of a majority of the members who are present at a meeting.
- Article VI- Committees
The president, with the approval of a majority of the remaining officers, will appoint such committees as may be necessary to carry out the purposes and goals of the alumni chapter and to properly administer its affairs.
- Article VII- Elections
The alumni chapter officers will be elected each year at the annual meeting and will hold office until their successors have been elected.
- Article VIII- Adoption and Dissolution
Section 1. This constitution will be officially adopted upon its approval by a majority vote of the members of the alumni chapter in attendance at any regular or special meeting of the chapter. It will take effect subject to the approval of the Golden Key International Honour Society Council.
Section 2. The alumni may dissolve the alumni chapter subject to the approval of the Golden Key Council. The Golden Key Council may dissolve the alumni chapter for cause. The alumni chapter may appeal the decision to the Golden Key Board of Directors. In the event of the dissolution of an alumni chapter, any residual funds of the chapter will revert to the Golden Key International Headquarters.
- Article IX- Amendments
This constitution may be amended by a majority vote of all members present at any duly called meeting of the members of the alumni chapter. No amendments will take effect until approved by the Golden Key International Honour Society Council.
