Looking Back: HPAIR 1999-2000 Year 2000 was a hectic and event-filled 12 months as the UA&P delegation and its officers sought to plan and implement activities that ensured a well-prepared delegation to HPAIR 2000 in Beijing, China. They also worked towards strengthening the UA&P HPAIR organization. After a two-stage screening process, the UA&P delegation to HPAIR 2000 was completed by the early part of the year 2000. The head delegate, together with a core group of officers, established the priorities and corresponding plans for the delegation and the organization. We identified three primary objectives: a) create a well-prepared and knowledgeable delegation b) raise funds c) establish and strengthen the UA&P-HPAIR club To accomplish these goals, the organizing committee planned various activities and attended to all the necessary details involved in realizing these plans. Among the more substantial goals we hoped to achieve were: (A) Delegation Preparation 1) the creation of a group paper by UA&P delegates regarding their workshop 2) organizing a lecture/seminar series and roundtable discussions on the HPAIR workshop topics and any other subjects relevant to these (B) Raising Funds 1) creation of an interactice CD to get sponsors 2) inter-university rave party 3) other small fund-raising projects and personal sponsorships (C) Strengthening the Organization 1) finalize the charter and finish the accreditation process 2) HPAIR Awareness Week 3) UA&P-HPAIR Website We enjoyed the interaction and activities during the HPAIR conference in Beijing, China made us realize that this was indeed well worth the effort.
